Dragons breathe fire Empty Dragons breathe fire

Post by DemonDrink Fri Jul 12, 2013 4:41 am

One very important thing people seem to have missed is the fact that dragons breathe fire. According to the legend, the "first flame" gave rise to the beings we know in dark souls, beings of disparity. Any thoughts?

In addition, the "serpent" is described as an imperfect dragon, and a symbol of the undead (who according to the fireball description, naturally fear flame). We can assume that the primordial serpent(s) existed during the age of ancients and you could further speculate that their relationship with dragons would *symbolize* the undeads' relationship with the Lords.

Open to any interpretation, here are some useful sources:

"In the Age of Ancients, The world was unformed, shrouded by fog.A land of grey crags, archtrees, and everlasting dragons

But then there was Fire. And with Fire came Disparity. Heat and cold, life and death, and of course... Light and Dark.

Then, from the Dark, They came, and found the Souls of Lords within the flame.
Nito, the First of the Dead. The Witch of Izalith, and her daughters of Chaos.

Gwyn, the Lord of Sunlight, and his faithful knights. And the furtive pygmy, so easily forgotten.

With the Strength of Lords, they challenged the dragons.

Gwyn's mighty bolts peeled apart their stone scales. The witches weaved great firestorms.Nito unleashed a miasma of death and disease.

And Seath the Scaleless betrayed his own, and the dragons were no more. Thus began the Age of Fire. . .But soon, the flames will fade, and only Dark will remain.Even now, there are only embers, and man sees not light, but only endless nights
    .
And amongst the living are seen, carriers of the accursed Darksign."

    Just felt it was fitting.

It has been stated that the dragon aren't living or dead, just... Nature.

Dragons breath fire, yes. But the Souls can be sort of explained like this, it makes sense that they were found in the first flame because souls are like fire, if not contained by a source (The Body) It will be let loose and eventually fade. It explains how if an undead dies it's souls flee to the nearest source, or in the Chosen Undead's case, how it is left in a bloodstain and will fade if not reclaimed.

    Here's one thing.

Kalameet covers the entire arena with fire when he flies, but after he is shot down he cannot do that anymore, as if he cannot do that, so is a Dragon's ability to breathe fire based off of his health, or is the organ somewhere in the wing?

I think that's more to how he is angled; a Strafing run is always more able to cover a large amount of ground than any thing else.

But he continously breathes fire over the area if I'm not mistaken.

He should still have the ability to cover the field with fire.

I see the point but that would be impractical from a gameplay point. He covers the arena with fire to force you to bite the dust and advance the story. The fact that he does not after grounded is more a gameplay mechanic of it having to be a surmountable boss fight.

Channel and tame that apathy. Use your extreme amounts of indifference to waste time shooting Kalameet with arrows so you can save yourself the trouble of having to bother talking to Gough.

I'm gonna need a Hawk Ring, some 999 Dragonslayer and Gough's Arrows, and a lot of target practice.

I shall be the one to drop Kalameet, not that big oaf.

Vaati has someone dropping Kalameet without Gough's help. It's in one of his 10 things you didn't know vids.

Also, dragons don't breathe real fire. It's magic that looks like fire. Dragons and their decendants eventually evolved the ability to spit lightning, fire, acid, curse-crystals, etc. but there not any reason to think it was normal fire back in the day.

And, even if it was, the First Flame wasn't necessarily the kind of mundane flame we think of. It's the spark of life.

Finally the First Flame ignited beneath the Archtrees where dragons couldn't reach.
