Thanks. I've been trying to improve every year so at some point in my life I can say one of mine caused a nightmare or two. My stepdaughter is definitely getting better all the time and she did a great job this year. I made a simple design for my daughter thinking she'd wanna try to cut and nah, just wanted to scoop guts

Well taking the guts out of something is always the most fun.

I'm afraid I don't trust apples anymore since Halloween is coming up.

You know what I hate most about halloween? The fact that hundreds of millions of pumpkins are wasted every year when they could've instead fed starving children in Africa.

The self-entitled fat kids that come round to beg for more crap that does nothing other than make them even fatter are almost as bad.

I might have some news for you, Retail Stores throw perfectly edible food away because their date has expired, they dont give it to Charity, THEY THROW IT IN THE TRASH !

At least thats the case on my side of the globe

You seem to have misread my post. I said that the pumpkins could've gone to the starving kids, but didn't.

Also, I completely agree Marino, the use by date for my food is when it starts to smell funny.

True that lol, i have plenty of milk in my cellar that is like, 2 months part its date and its still good

Also the use by date isn't really that connected to when food goes bad.

Sorry. Its hard to tell when its just a few words on a screen.

Also, the use by date is a ploy by supermarkets to make you throw away stuff unnecessarily, forcing you to buy more.

Usually they're sell by dates, as opposed to use by dates, meaning you can use them as indicators of how long they've been sitting on the shelves before buying them, which, depending on what you're buying, is actually helpful information. Milk for example. I'd rather not buy a gallon of milk that's been sitting on a store shelf for 2 weeks, or longer, before I purchased it.

Without a sell by date you'd have no way of knowing. It's a lesson you only have to learn the hard way once, especially if you're someone like me that'll get home, pop the cap off, and chug a bunch out of the jug before you put it in the fridge. Only needed that big ball of mold and curdled milk floating around in the middle to hit my mouth once, and now I always and forever will check the sell by date before I grab a gallon and put it in my cart.

I don't know why they don't just always go with use by dates. Sell by dates just confuse me more than anything.

I find those statements ignorant, offensive, and categorically false.

100 million pumpkins that could have been fed to starving children in Africa? Who is going to take 100 million pumpkins to Africa? If there wasn't the demand, they wouldn't have been grown.
