Ricards Rapier
What are your thoughts about this weapon on a dex/faith build ?

Re: Ricards Rapier
The strong attack with the RR is amazing in pvp if you can land it, if the character is low on poise or unexpecting, it can easily do 60% or more damage to their health (depending on vit and other stuff of course). I personally love rapiers, and use them all the time. I have a build both for raps and tanas, both are good for PvP, but I just see to many katana users, so I go with rapier, and love it.
With 40 dex and 40 int I think the RR would be a awesome weapon, paired with force and you could have some fun

Re: Ricards Rapier
The strong attack works best when buffed. It is about 5 hits buffed by a static amount of damage which can be 100 the least. If you're a darkmoon with high faith, you can easily land around 400 damage per hit.
Ricard's Rapier is really one of those weapons that ain't much on its own, but shines when buffed.

Re: Ricards Rapier
DONT YOU DARE RECOMMEND THE SPEAR THERE ARE TOO MANY ALREADY
*Ahem* sorry about that.
well for dex weapons curved swords such as the falchion or if you can deal with the range painted guardian sword are good.
the flamberge is there if you want a greatsword style weapon
Balder side sword is epic.
oh yeah... and there are katana's if your into that sorta thing.

Silver Knight Straight Sword is a dex sword (E/C scaling), people don't like it much, but i find it pretty good, it's my main wep on my main build. Try it if you want to do something new. Any weapon can be good if you know how to use it.

Most people don't like it because it doesn't have the BSS's thrust attack.
But it's a strong weapon, a bit underrated.
Maybe you could use a RR and switch to something else when the buff runs out? RR is only good with a buff, otherwise it's pretty bad.
You could use chaos blade when the buff runs out, since it's the strongest un-buffable katana.

Re: Ricards Rapier
It's a good shield, weighs only 1.5 (!!!) and with that has decent stability, let's you take 5-6 hits of a gs, but it really doesn't matter if you know how to set up parry. And it looks perfect with a brown armor set up. A good shield to go if you do not have enough equip load for another one. I use it a lot.

Re: Ricards Rapier
that was my thought as well, wanted to learn how to proper parry from the start.
But it seems like pvp parrying works a bit different.

Great Scythe can be awesome. Surprisingly high AR combined with a different play strategy can make it very powerful. Lifehunt Scythe is also great. Hard to argue with 50% bleed.

Re: Ricards Rapier
Fresh Price Ricard's Rapier is perfect for buffs if you can land the Full strong attack on an unsuspecting opponent. It tears through stamina though so making sure you have green blossoms or the Grass crest shield helps a lot.

Re: Ricards Rapier
having joined darkmoon now on my sl 50 char and trying to invade some people at Sen's, it seems like i keep getting my butt kicked by either spear users and greatsword users who just swing around hope for a lag and drain 50% of my hp bar

Re: Ricards Rapier
Spears are rough. Lag means phantom hits and it is so frustrating. GS users love to stunlock you with their R1. Use that to your advantage and parry them.

Re: Ricards Rapier
im playing the pc version, so GS cant stunlock anymore. he was in his onehanded stance and still could drain me 50% of my hp in one hit although i was strafting him with my shield up to backstab him. but either he hit me for some weird reason or i couldnt backstab him although i stood right behind him

Re: Ricards Rapier
You can't backstab with your shield up first of all, and second of all, if you and your opponent aren't facing each other, blocking won't work. So if you were circling him, his 1h might hit you even with the shield up. What's your HP by the way? Normal questers in Sens shouldn't have weapons that can take half your life in one it at that level.

He took out 320 points of health with a single one handed swing? Did greatswords always do that? Sorry my memory is so foggy right now.

Umm...it's not hard what so ever to hit 320 with a GS....lol. I can easily hit for 400+ with a GS.
