500+ hours logged and have never seen a black phantom

This sounds like a really interesting mechanic and I hope they change the Gravelord covenant to make it more popular. I just can't believe, on the XBox, that I have never seen a black phantom... Not even with my current Gravelord user made covenant on here.

Giving 10% of souls of infected people that die would be a good way I think... or revamp it in some way.

I would love to be able to gravelord and actually control the phantom that is created. That would be an awesome mechanic, which control being reverted to the computer if I was invaded (have to focus on my own world).

Thoughts? Invading people as a black phantom with stock gear would be a lot of fun I would think, espeically if you gain souls from it.

I think I might actually like the Gravelord covenant if it was like that.

The 10% souls idea I totally agree with however the idea of controlling the black phantoms doesn't seem very Dark Soulsy to me.

Just playing as a Gravelord is... well boring. Thought the new user covenant would make it more interesting, but it isn't. I rarely get invaded; people know you're about their level and know you're itching for a fight. Plus they know they can't reliably gang up, so a lot of people I think just ignore it.

I just wish it had some mechanic that would make it a viable covenant to take.

I managed to get alot of gravelording going at the burg and the other pvp areas BUT yeh I know that isn't proper gravelording

well first go to the kiln, it summons black BLACK knights lol that one hit everything and are VERY aggressive and people tend to gun for ur throat pretty quick haha, also the main area u see black phantoms is in forest and kiln since those are heavy pvp spots anyway

In my experience high traffic pvp areas like the kiln actually make it harder to send out BPs as you're constantly being invaded by mostly red phantoms and there is currently no benefit for gravelords to hide themselves (and subsequently their signs) to prolong infection times.

The only areas I've gotten Black Phantomed are ones with exotic phantoms and plenty of places to hide like Undead Parish, Painted World, and once the Depths but the GL was vanquished in minutes.
And to the OP I didn't get my first BP until 230 hours into my main character, and it was at level 160 so go figure. :roll:

ive seen a lot of black phantoms in the forest and kiln.....the kiln one just made me mad when it happened to me :\.....AND IM A GRAVE LORD

Yea I've heard that one's tough, I've never gotten to see either of those with BPs, and I was just saying whenever I try gravelording in those areas I get swarmed by reds and never see a single blue so chances are I'm not getting infections, you must be alot better at it than me to get success there
It also seems like it takes me close to 5 min on average to get 2 or 3 BP infections, at least by what my soapstone shows, and by then chances are I've been invaded by red phantoms and SOVs that didn't get BP'd, that's my luck at least.

I have never seen a black phantom npc or a gravelord sign in my entire experience. I have recieved disasters are gone messages but no phantoms or signs.

There was someone gravelording Sen's around SL 40 on XBL the other night.

I was invading and encountered them many times. I even saw the red sign to summon and fight the gravelord!!

So after I saw that sign, I ran excitedly around Sen's and checked all of the locations that the wiki had posted.

Didn't see a single BP

It's glitched pretty hard I think. Never seen a BP ever. Makes me sad.

I have played for well over 500 hours and have also never had a black phantom enemy in my world. :'(

I did see one once when I invaded someone else's world though.

Yea most common spot is the bonfire in the forest, kill the moonlight butterfly and drop a sign , big black stone knights happen hehe

Not sure what you mean Xuitus. Drop what sign? White, red or gravelord?

gravelord, right outside the bonfire I see usually one a day there at least, on a side note I am nearly 90% sure I invaded you last night on my new build.....hm

also: gravelords get some tweeking in the dlc, we get a humanity EVERY TIME someone dies to a black phantom

If you kill the Moonlight Butterfly, you can't infect people by the bonfire.

Well dark souls isn't famous for its smooth online experience. Even if you have a good connection it doesnt matter. Lag, failed summons, a broken message system, gravelord cov not working. Its kind of a mess.

I have experienced gravelord bp only 2 times I guess. In the Undead Burg and Forest. Thats it, with 750 hours of play in DkS.

I hope From will learn from this and gives the online part an attention well deserved.

It is a great game nontheless, but could've been a masterpiece.

I get the "disasters are gone..." message a lot, but i've never seen a red phantom, not in my world at least
