What's the purpose of holding the crossbow in two hands? To meet the minimum STR requirement? Anything else?

No idea, but when you 2 hand it it fires slower than 1 hand.

Actually, you can not have have enough str, but enough dex. Particularly with the repeater crossbow. I actually didn't even know there was an animation for the crossbow when you dont have enough str, its really funny actually. Its not the same as if you didn't have enough dex.

So if your STR is 10, and you want to fire the Heavy Crossbow 1handed, obviously you can't. But if you two-hand it, can you? Unsure what you meant fruitpunch. Think you mean you can have enough str, but not enough dex.
Still, not sure how it relates to two-handing a crossbow.

Yea if you don't have enough STR you can fire it if you 2h it. Just like any other weapon, but if you don't have enough dex it just wont work. What i was pointing out is that the animation that occurs when you dont have enough STR and attempt to fire it 1h its actually pretty funny. I had not ever noticed it until very recently, just because its very rare to ever have that problem.

Re: Any reason to 2H a crossbow?
There is one MAJOR benefit for 2h a crossbow, and that's the shot height change so it's closer to the head. When you fire you raise the crossbow up, where as 1h you're firing from the hip, meaning that on level ground you'll almost never score a headshot.

So cloud, would youneed a bit of height to score a headshot then...? Or would it do it on even ground, depending on the animation of your foe?

On even ground you should be able to score a headshot during just about most any weapon attack animation, seeing as most lower the torso a bit.

Re: Any reason to 2H a crossbow?
I do this for style points, my Highwayman char used the wanderers cloak and 2H an X-bow, looked cool 8)
