First PvP experience?

I'm certain the rookies and vets alike remember the first time they were invaded.

I was inching my way through Undead Parish, kiting out the Balder Knights from the chapel one-by-one. Suddenly I see a notice... XxManMilk69xX has invaded!(not real, but my first victory was against some combination of "Man" and "Milk")

I don't know what this means. I pause at the doors to the chapel, scanning left and right. Before long a robed figure emerges from the chapel doors, firing rows of homing magic in my direction. I attempt to block, to no avail. I dodge as he spams this attack over and over, trying to inch my way closer to land a blow. He has no shield... I can do this.

As I approach, he pulls out strange looking curved blades, one in each hand. Odd. My heater shield boasts 100% physical defense, and I know which button makes the blocking happen. I see the robed figure wind up for the first blow... And I'm dead.

But.. I blocked! I BLOCKED. My character falls to the ground dead (and very electrocuted) as I mash the block button over and over as if it will somehow resurrect my poor little thief.

It was a few weeks later that I knew what I had faced. Dual lightning shotels. I never stood a chance.

The first time I was invaded was in the burg. I had just became human at the first bonfire. As soon as I stepped out to kill the crossbow guy, I get invaded by a guy wearing no armour or weapons. I ran down the steps to fight him, and he spammed force until I fell off the edge

1st time, best time.

Kicked them off of a cliff in DRBasin .





In a panic no less.





















And accidentally.

was playing demon's souls on ng+, my first playthru was offline so i was ready and knowledgeable about invasions.. or SO I THOUGHT.

i invade another guys world before penetrator, excited as all hell and ready with my horrible build.

2v1.
still tore that host a new a**hole before i went down, he procced his second chance.

First Invasion...
Creeping through Undead Burg the day I got the game I see "HolyButtPlugOfDeath has invaded" (or some equally inane name), having no idea what was happening I stop trading with the Undead merchant and turn around to see this strange red naked person flipping around tearing up all the barrels around me... Now I'm TERRIBLY confused, as I had no idea what made people flip like they were having epileptic seizures all over breakable boxes...
It must have been epic to him, a scared newb in knight armor, not moving and just holding his shield up. I see him put his hands up (again, no idea what the hell he was doing or how he was doing it). I take one step forward thinking that I have to do SOMETHING, at which time the invader draws a LONG samurai sword and proceeds to wreck me in under 5 seconds... not knowing what to do I finally realize this is a PVPer, so I send a message asking "WTH just happened, I just got this game today!"

I appreciate your honesty! I was half expecting a "300" reference. Haha I still giggle each time I envision myself kicking Shiva's poor bodyguard off the cliff. You can't do it and NOT feel like Leonidas.

I was standing underneath the bridge shooting at the Bridge Wyvern's tail, as I'm sure at some point we all heard of this mystical drake sword. I saw the invader message but had no clue what it meant, so I continued shooting when I hear a noise. I turn to see a guy in a Mask of the Father with a Greatscythe charging at my two handing it. I pressed circle to roll out of reflex, and literally yelled as I just rolled against the wall. I closed my eyes for a second and turned around looking for him but he was gone. Suddenly I got some souls and a message saying he died.

He tried to BS me off the under part of the bridge, and missed going right off. It made me chuckle. Then ten minutes later he invaded me at the boar and killed me with a single shot from a bow.

I don't think this was my first, but it is the first one I remember. In the burg by the bonfire, I got the message and suddenly a half naked red lady shows up. I put a death lock on the block button and begin circling with my balder shield raised as high as it will go. Suddenly she starts putting her hands together and a circle of light appears. I have no idea what it is. I stare mesmerized. There is a noise. Nothing happens to me. She does this a few more times and still it does not impact me. I finally muster up the courage to take a few swings. I connect. She does the magic light ball thing again, and again. Still it does not seem to impact me. Finally she takes off running and jumps off the bridge towards the blue tear stone ring. I did not no you can do that so I assume she is gone. I am utterly confused as to what she was doing, but even more so, I am utterly confused as to how she jumped.

I don't know if she died, I don't think I knew to pay attention to getting additional souls or any of the messages that would indicate I won. My assumption is I probably got killed shortly thereafter while she was roaming around the burg riling up my enemies.

PS - I am assuming she kept casting "Force" as that is the only way I can think that I did not get impacted. I must have been outside the range. My guess is this person would invade, and try to use force to knock people off the edge. Me in my infinite ignorance, managed to not let that happen.

I never played Demon Souls. My friend talked me into playing Dark Souls, but he played offline and didn't mention invaders to me.



I was leaving the upper burg bonfire to attempt to reach the male merchant. I was fighting the two spear soldiers. I managed to kill one, with the use of two estas, when a message I failed to read appeared, followed by a red strangely armored enemy with a two handed sword on his shoulder. I managed to kill the final spearman with a little luck and heal before the newcomer reached me. I thought he was some kind of mini-boss.



At this point in my DS experience I knew that my best tactic was to take a hit to my shield then thrust forward with my longsword. The thrust damage ussually killed in one hit, but if not then a second swipe would finish it. I took the hit, lost about 30 health through a heater shield and over a third my endurance. When I thrust, the guy just danced around my body and stabbed me in the back with his firey sword killing me instantly.



I immediately called my buddy and asked him what the hell was up with the red warrior with the two handed sword???? My buddy's response.... He had no idea.

I had played Demon's Souls, but only offline since my original PS3 was not online. But thanks to Skyrim (another tale entirely) I had a new PS3 with wireless capability, so away we went. After hours of beating my head uselessly against the graveyard skeletons with my low level pyromancer, I finally made it up to the Burg bonfire and summoned two phantoms. They ran ahead of me and start killing things, when we got an invasion message. Having no sense of the level layout or what was going on, I sort of milled around in confusion, and within a couple of minutes got messages that both of my summons have died. Great. Eventually a red phantom holding a katana runs up and takes a few swipes at me, which I manage to block with my cool hollow shield. Realizing I'm a noob, he backs up and waves to me. I wave back, and he pulls out this fancy looking triple crossbow and kills me with lightning bolts mid gesture.

Sadly, that was still more honorable than about 85% of the invaders I ran into later on that playthrough

I was in the parish, just before the bridge with the two crossbowmen. Actually had another noob summoned to help me. He was destroyed, and then I was destroyed. Lightning...what else.

The first invader I had was Kirk. The second was Mildred. Back then I thought they were players like me. I had no idea they were NPCs. I can't remember who was the first player who invaded me though.

I remember it very well and am taking the excuse to tell the whole story.

I played blind (the only way I ever do a first playthrough) and was in the catacoumbs in base elite knight armor with a +5 iaito (no shield, 2 handing like a samurai) and I was invaded while I was by the switch to the bridge patches flips. Having played demons I moved to the bridge and waited where I was so he couldn't approach without me seing him. Around the the corner runs some dude whos cartwheeling in armor that looked like it would win a fight with a small truck (havels) and using what I figured was a shotel. I tried to block the first hit and it took 2/3rds of my hp, so I backrolled and there the fight began. I had better reach and bled him twice without taking a second hit, getting him within inches of death. I took a risk and used the 2hr2 and he did the same, I dashed past him and he fell dead, as I did the same.

It was the most glorious thing I've ever done in video game format. Just remembering it is getting me excited.

So yeah, that was my first pvp experience in dks, against a griefer in the catacoumbs.

I may have died but that was the biggest victory I've had in DKS up till and since that first match.

First PVP was in the Parish, I was just about to go free Lautrec when all of the sudden an invasion message pops up, now I knew something bad was about to happen, but I had no idea what...in comes some douchebag with palidin armor and a family mask wielding a lightning katana, I'm in nothing but base Wanderer gear and a drake sword, (I think I also had a knight shield, total noob build.

Needless to say, he obliterated me, taunting me as I faded into the abyss....From that day I sword revenge!!!

Was in the burg and had just killed the boar and the enemies when I got invaded.
I stayed up near the ledge and waited for a long time.
He showed up with no shirt, the boar helm, and a broad sword.
We danced around each other a bit, getting hits in here and there.
I pulled out my talisman when he was in position and two forces later he fell to his death.

Also, am I the only one whose first pvp wasn't a griefer?

First time,

I was in the undead church, first day playing online (mostly because I needed help with the Bell Gargoyles). Step in the church, messa ge appears "You have been invaded bla bla bla". I got a bit nervous and started running for the wooden bridge in the outside of the church (the one near the two hollow with sword and shields and the hollow with the crossbow). The guys was there, in the middle of it, I raised the shield and prepared myself to attack with my handaxe (the innitial for the Pyromancer). The guy came with a spear and shield, wearing the Ninja Set (don't know if that's the real name of it). He blocked my attack and pierced me with the spear, taking half of my health. I retreated back to the church, with him right behind me, I entered the church and atracted the attention of the guards inside. The guards started attack me and the guy, and I eventually died for the Rapier-wield Guard...

I do not remember where but I got invaded by someone in full witch armor and a short electric wepon probably a dagger I was roling a knight so o blocked a few hits, when I recived damage I panicked paried and riposte killing him in one hit.
to say the least I was scared after that for a hvile.

Invaded at the depths. I had a phantom with me, we both using drake swords. You know the feeling, basicly right after the game was released. Standing scared as S*** before the Slimes corridor, red dude appears two handing a lighting zweihander, kills me and my buddy in 2 hits.

It took some time for me to decide to visit the depths again...

I was getting used to the game and spending time in the burg, when I see I was invaded. I knew what this meant, but I was just a noob in knight armor.

There he was...the red phantom...he approached me and I held me ground. Let it be known I was no coward, but suddenly he began to strafe as he approached. I soon realized (Thanks youtube!) that he was fishing for a backstab. I began to manuever as well and took a few swings at him. I scored a few blows and backstabbed him twice! Though it was not enough I soon laid on the floor dead.

On my first time walking into the burg,dont know how but i managed to kill the invader with my 8 casts of fireball.

Honestly, I don't remember.

I'm sure I was killed, though.

Top of Sen's Fortress. I played hollow much of my first playthrough but now I was human cuz I wanted to get Tarkus' help with the giant Golem I saw through the windows. I went to fight the Black Knight and got the message about an invader. I'd played some of Demon's Souls... enough to basically panic when seeing those messages. I could no longer adequately fend off the Black Knight cuz my nerves were shot and suddenly I'm BS'd by some faded iridescent red dude with an electric weapon. I'm barely alive and I stand up trying to lock on... I cannot. He flips around me and BS again... death.

First time was with the drake, trying to bait it to come down with arrows. I heard the invasion thing and ran under the bridge, only to suddenly receive souls and a message saying dark spirit "Somethingorother" had been vanquished by the very thing I was trying to kill. Needless to say I have left him alive all future playthroughs
