The counter to deadangling? Empty The counter to deadangling?

2:45 - 3:00 for the point of this thread.
Now apparently, the same mechanics that make the deadangle possible are what makes it counterable. If you turn your back to your opponent when they have their backs to you, you'll block the attack from behind and cancel the deadangle.

Careful next time you TWoP + WoG spam...

He could have just blocked the WoGs with his big shield, not big deal...

Not if he got dead angled...

Thanks for making this thread man it's a pretty interesting mechanic for anyone that does block WoGs instead of rolling through

Looks more like a glitch, the dude has his back exposed and he doesn't take any damage. :|

He didn't block the last WoG and, even if he did, his opponent wasn't deadangling it, so he would have deadangled himself.

his opponent WAS deagnling it, its really easy to see when people do it on purpose since most people do it agaisnt tanks.

I made a comment about this in the "Completely Useless facts I find Interesting" thread on July 24th.

roanispe wrote:Theoretically, you can block dead-angles by unlocking, and looking away from your opponent when they do too. However, the timing, prediction, and sheer skilled required for this 'technique' is so great, that there is no reason not have utterly dominated your opponent before the situation actually arises to do this. Just to compare it, you require a higher level of ability to do this mechanical novelty than the 'insta-block' for no actual benefit. If you knew your opponent was going to dead-angle, then you should have got a backstab instead.

In hindsight, I should have thought about using it against Wrath of Gods + Tranquil Walk of Peace, instead of against weapons. However, I still don't think it is too useful in actual practice, so I stand behind calling it a mechanical novelty.

Are we talking about 2:53? Cause you can see that the opponent IS facing him and he has his back turned and that he in fact did not have his shield raised.

@Roani: Being a counter for TWoP + WoG, even if a minor one, is good since this particular tactic has been deemed practically unbeatable. This is also a great tool for fat rollers who can't afford to dodge adequately.

Yeah I noticed something like this when dealing with a Force spammer. I was facing away from him with my shield up (don't ask) and the Force impact actually sent me backwards towards him instead of away. You can also get similarly screwy results from things like DSB arrows.
