Gankers (please move if this is in wrong section)

OK, I know this won't be the first or last forum about gankers in dark souls, but seriously, why is there an over-whelming number of them? I was PvP-ing in the forest hunter area and was annoyed when most of my matches were against high poise double teaming players. I mean, what happened to the 1 on 1 respectful duels people used to have when the game first came out. In my own personal experience, I rarely ever find an opponent who will bow before or after winning a duel. Anyone else miss the days before the gankers crawled out of the ground?

When the Gankers ARE BAD. It's New Players.
When the Gankers are ''GOOD'' They're Trolls.

New Players tend to Gank since they're often trying to complete a Section without losing their Humanity so they can Summon others to Help them. Can't really Blame them.

Ever since the Hate for gankers started to Rise. TROLLS has started doing it. They normaly Gank since
A: WELL. THEY'RE TROLLS.
and
B: They're Fu*king terrible at the game leading them only winning by Using Cheap gear *Cough* Giants,BKGA *Cough* and cheap Spells *Cough* WoG *Cough*.

Short-Said: Newbies does it to Protect themself and/or Earn souls to go on in the game WHILE Trolls does it since they're TERRIBLE at the game and/or are Complete Douch Bags.

If you are pvping in the forest, then you should expect it. The forest is generally regarded as the "no rules" area for pvp. That is where most of the gankers flock to. Hasn't the forest always been like that?

Like fujiphoenix said, the Forest has always been a high area of no rules and gankers. At least for consoles I'm pretty sure it has been, I have no idea on PC.

The forest is like the certain unmentionable place of our beloved internet.

Nothing is sacred, and barely any rules.

Now if you wish to find better combat, you can try at New Londo Ruins. Where the hollows are, not the ghosts. There will normally be a good chance of you getting into a 1v1 PVP fight.

If you do so happen to run across a couple of people going through the level, do as you please. There is a black crystal, suicide, and (if you lack skill) second hand suicide, in which you attack the host and, possibly, his phantom.

One of the best and most underrated areas for pvp on the console is the Undead Burg. I've been ganked there once, and 95% of the time everyone bows. Just stick away from the Forest. I don't know how it got so popular but other than trolling a lot of people do it to get lots of souls really quick. And far more fun than farming for them.

The burg is the most popular pvp spot, but you need to have skipped the Taurus demon to use it. Unless you only plan on invading, in which case the Taurus demon can be dead. The kiln was the old "go-to" pvp spot, but I hear it turned into the forest a while back.

Put down an RSS instead of invading. youll get mostly compassionate players.

Did you know? the term "Gank" comes from "Group" + "wank"? Apparently it began at Dota, where is actually considered a good strategy.

in MOBA games it is flat out how to win, because they are often group competitive games. And it is more about team placement and map awareness. It isn't simply camping a spawn point or like in MMO's, being max level and going to a low level zone and killing new players.

I for one was not aware of that. You just brightened up my day a little. That's like the 10th plus one I haven't been able to give this evening. Damn you rep limiting.

I actually tried my hand at some forest pvp the other night for the first time in awhile. It used to be one of my favorite things to do in DkS, but I unfortunately also found it almost impossible to enjoy due to an obscenely high frequency of gankers. From should have implemented a forest cov NPC to fight with you if you spawn so outnumbered like that. I don't think I'm the only one who would have enjoyed fighting alongside Shiva or his shadow.

Ssshhhhhh... Forest is perfect but not for everyone. No rules, no morality, no respect and it's excellent.
As Forest Hunter, I'm used to be underdog but further more makes it fantastic experience if you can handle it. Yes, I'm talking about those double teams aka campers which simply love using flasks, wog, silence, dragon ring of fog and so on. But once you get accustomed to it and especially once you killed them both without healing yourself you will go nuts and ask for more.

Lately I was playing Arena, got invaded in Township but all that were no match to Forest PVP, it's simply not that interesting, dueling that is. Arena Deathmatch comes close to Forest mayhem.

whenever i'm invading as a forest hunter, i'm usually low level and all by my self against a pair of much higher level toons. all i do is try to last as long as i can cuz i know my chances for survival are pretty slim. but oh the pay off if i do win. since i don't actually loose anything as a forest hunter, i say bring it on. because when you're on a fresh toon, that 880000 some odd souls you just gave me for dying is super helpful…what level would that have made them? i just about fell out of my chair when i say my soul count rocket up over a million with one win.

i have also noticed that the new norm since the most recent patch is for forest campers to be wearing giants armour and spamming the gold tracer as they run at you. the gold tracer has become my new favorite weapon to hate. it causes bleed in two hits and kills me in four everytime, no matter what my hit points are, and it's super fast on top of all that…i hate that thing! i can't wait to get my hands on it!

That's true too. An uphill battle is fun sometimes. There's nothing quite like leading a team of 3 off the cliff only to find yourself facing one on the other side all by himself.

I wish there were more gankers in the Forest. Sometimes it takes a really long time to find a match.

In many aspects this is the forest's law.

Agreed to this topic at some point.... If i am summoned with the Redsoapstone why the f*ck would someone Gank me???? I was looking for a duel.. But if i force the invasion....... Well in that case i was asking for it....

What days? Players have been doing this since day one, haha.

I know this has been said numerous times already about the forest but i'll just reiterate the point;

I tried to host for 1v1 fights in the forest, I really did but it didn't happen. Honestly, forest hunters ask to be ganked. One out of every hundred will return the favor of being left to a 1v1, the rest gank mercilessly.
