This is a great idea! I'm very curious to learn about this game, because it looks pretty fun. I heard it's going to be relaunched onto the PS3, is that true? And if it is, would it still be an MMO?

Edited the prologue to contain basic information .

Will be updating setting and story latter this week. When I'm free from work, look out for an large update Fridayish.

Of course it comes out in march when I go back to uni.

Ya I'm really interested in the game. Though I don't like the fact that there's a monthly subscription to it, but it looks rather good. Still have to think on it a bit.

Is there going to be an open beta for people to try, or will it be a closed beta? Sorry for all the questions, but you've gotten me pretty excited for the game

Hey Onion, Is FFXIV 1.0 completely shut down or are you still able to play it??

I'm curious as well, but if they don't include my Puppet Master class or something very similar it will be a tough sell for me honestly :|

Wait Onion before you go... are people still able to play the game or can you not play until relaunch. Also if you are able to play is it just members that had an account or can news still play it before relaunch??

1.0 is closed to everyone, the last event was us fighting in the battle (in the final cutscene.) Before the screen blacked out and the cutscene played. After this the servers shut. You won't be able to play until ARR is released. (unless you get into one of the betas.)

I don't know how many times I've watched that cutscene. It just is so awesome. Really makes me want to play FF14 A Realm Reborn when it comes out next year.

Seems kinda cheap they've shut down the servers.
"You want to play the game more even though we want to finish it? TOO BAD SUCKERS!"

Well we had several months warning before they shut it off, I mean they didn't just pull the plug. In fact it was the players who wanted it to end, the devs did a poll on the official forums last year asking if the players would be open to a whole new game.
Also all our character stats and gear, inventory etc was saved. And is there waiting for us when we get back.
Just to be clear the current devs are the guys who have raised the game to a playable and enjoyable state, they keep us updated on their progress (in the forums and on youtube.) As well as asking players what they wanted, A Realm Reborn content is all we Final Famtasy XIV players wanted.
