Dark Sorcerers Dark Orbs varying damage

I'm doing a few low level runs through the DLC and I'm always baffled when dark orbs vary between killing me in one shot and taking down most of my health. What is affecting how much damage they do? Originally I thought it depended on the direction of which it hits my body, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

It probably depends on how much int they have and if they're using the BDCR/CoD.

Unless it was the same person, then i don't know.

I've noticed different damage from the two sorcerers in the abyss (each of them individually, not compared to each other), so I don't think so.

Aah, you're talking about the sorcerers, i thought you were talking about other players :oops:

I noticed it too. But i think it's 2 different attacks, the stronger one probably takes longer to "charge up".

i bet their both hitting you at close range right? one of them is dark orb but the one that one shots you is actually their version of dark bead which has a similar casting animation and a more concentrated firing pattern.

Also, the ones with glowing eyes are tougher than the others.
