by vageta31 Wed Dec 05, 2012 12:53 amI'm currently retired from DkS(though I still lurk different boards) but it occured to me that I never linked my final run through the game on this board. Basically I wanted to do something different for this run and make it my "quintessential" Dark Souls playthrough. I had originally planned on a very strict challenge run but decided to give my viewers some input and let them choose. The basic consensus was they weren't as worried about the pure challenge itself due to how boring the low level weapons are, so we came up with a compromise.
Basic Rules:
- Must wear calamity ring at all times, never taking it off.
- No estus upgrades OR kindling
- Base Vitality
- No health/stamina/burden increasing items
- No master key
- No offensive magic/pyro but buffs are encouraged
- No red tearstone ring or power within to keep my damage in check
- Must taunt each boss during the fight
- No poise allowed
- Must kill all bosses
- Weapon stats may be raised, along with endurance and enough int/att for 2 slots and some low level buffs.
- Must ring Blighttown Bell first
Basically the challenge comes from being the ultimate glass cannon by having base vitality and sporting the calamity ring at all times. In order to make it entertaining I chose to use the Iaito as my weapon and finish most bosses with the R2 attack for style. Not having the master key forces me to take an unorthodox path through the beginning of the game. I end up taking out Quelaag as my first boss and have to head through blighttown backwards at the very start of the game with a very fragile character which was a bit hairy. I also replaced the soundtrack with my own, so I'll say up front if you don't like bands like Tool, Black Sabbath, Alice in Chains, Metallica, Soundgarden, Pantera, etc.. then don't bother watching. You won't be happy. Also due to the 3rd party music it probably won't work on mobile devices. This is youtube's doing, not mine.
