Knew everything in this video .
Except that you can BS with a Catalyst ! and it did 180 Damage to boot if i saw that right .
The BS Animations are almost like executions now, i love it .
Good find, Jutas......What ? Did you post ths for a reason other than providing us with info or what ?
What i still don't understand entirely, how does switching between three Weapons work ?

Armor Spider. The concept is the same. The boss attacks primarily with long-ranged moves. The player must close the distance in order to deal damage to the boss, but once the player gets close, the boss attempts to create distance (Gwyndolin runs; Armor Spider puts you in a "run or die" situation).Marino. wrote:Oh wait, which boss were you talking about ?
There wasn't a fight like Gwyndolins in Demons .
The fight is different due to certain details, but the concept is the same. A "variation" of Armor Spider if you will:
-Gwyndolin having no melee while Armor Spider has a melee [Which is actually pretty good at keep-away if the player doesn't know how to dodge through it]
-Gwyndolin creates distance faster, but the Armor Spider can kill you if you don't create distance
-Gwyndolin uses a multitude of attacks, while the Armor Spider has very straightforward moves, although it has an encumbrance attack (Which you really don't want to get hit by when you're close to it)

Only that Gwyndolin runs away while Spider makes you run away .

I always felt armor spider was more like quelaag. Fire spiders and all. Going with your comparison they both use attacks to trap you/corral you. I think Gwyndolin is an archetype caster. Stay away from me please!
Armor spider is run and the battle changes. 'Dolin is run and he makes the distance a factor again
Edit: This is not to say I disagree with the amount the games overlap though. Gargoyles, Hellkite, Phalanx, Quelaag, BoC, Gwyn, and more all have very similar creatures in Demon's

I don't really find Queelag to be similar to Armor Spider. The Armor Spider isn't really trying to trap you, but rather try to take advantage with its breath attacks. On the other hand, Queelag can't do anything long ranged and her tactics revolve around limiting your movement space so she can close in.
But, on the topic of the video, the only things I noticed were:
1. Catalyst backstab. Pretty brutal for a catalyst if you ask me...
2. Lagstabs are still present. The invader took a shot with the backstab while the host was rolling, "missed" then the invader teleported to the host (instead of vice-versa). However, it may actually have to do with the host rolling towards the player, letting the backstab connect.
3. People are still rushing recklessly (see end of video)

watching one of the beta vids this morning, as you do, I noticed that the Merchant / old hag has a creaky old british accent, reminiscent of our most beloved Souls series...
admittedly a minor point for some, but an almighty, trouser soaking tick in my book. Hopefully a sign that some of the sublime DaS voice cast will return. . .
rejoice!

Re: DARK SOULS 2 - All info so far Thread - Interviews, Trailers, etc. - Release Date: March 2014
So I just sat down to read this month's issue of Game Informer, which came in the mail this afternoon, and there's a spread about DkS2. I was excited looking at the big color pictures and reading some basic stuff until about the third paragraph when I came across something I haven't read about before. According to GI, From has totally removed any kind of mode where you can avoid invasions for DkS2. Specifically there's still playing hollow and human, but you can be invaded in either state, and, according to the article, the incentive now will be if you're killed as a hollow you lose a percentage of max health permanently. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Considering the constant state of the community, a souls game without the ability to avoid invasions could literally kill the whole thing for me. Consider areas like the Undead Burg or Parish when you're playing with a new character, or when you hit areas that gankers like to hang out, or run into a hacker that's invading over and over again. DkS2 could end up being a constant whole game onslaught of that. That doesn't sound appealing to me at all. Granted I'm not someone who generally plays hollow all the time or anything, but there are certainly times in DkS/DeS where I'd prefer to not be bothered while I try to get something tricky done, or just want to mess with my inventory, or farm for an item, or whatever. Hopefully GI is missing some key thing here. I don't know. This makes me nervous though.
Here's the article. You be the judge:
Here's the article. You be the judge:
- Spoiler:
- Dark Souls II
No easy way out(author Tim Turi)
Just when you thought the Dark Souls formula couldn't get any more punishing, developer From Software reveals a suite of malicious design changes. The original Dark Souls gained a cult following of masochists who appreciate its challenging third-person swordplay, lethality, and high-risk leveling system. While the original is anything but a cake walk, players could exploit a few tricks to make the game slightly less hellish. From Software is putting an end to that with the sequel.
One of the series' nastiest features is that enemy players can appear in your game to kill you. This could be avoided in the previous game by remaining an undead, or "hollowed," character. Only players who restored their humanity with a consumable item could be invaded by bullies or summon allies to take on big challenges. In Dark Souls II, even the undead can be invaded, wiping away what little respite the series offered. Even worse, when you're undead, each death that follows shaves off a portion of your maximum health(note from Daft: I wonder if they will give us a cling ring to make this a little easier for the novice), bottoming out at around 50 percent. Only using a Human Effigy to restore your humanity replenishes your life. From Software is designing it so that players want to be human.
Another new slap in the face is a limit on how long summoned co-op allies can assist you. A time gauge ticks down as a buddy or two helps you out with a tough section or boss encounter. The gauge depletes faster as your teammates kill enemies. From Software hasn't decided on whether summoned allies can disappear mid boss battle or not.
Dark Souls II is shaping up to be much tougher than its predecessor but there is some respite in sight. Dark Souls II also introduces a new covenant for players to align themselves with. The Way of the Blue are do-gooders who help out other players when they're invaded. These glowing blue defenders are automatically summoned to your aid when you encounter enemy black phantoms, who are powerful foes spawned by other players. Successfully helping out other players earns you White Sign Soapstones, which be used to call in backup later on.
From Software also streamlines the series' indirect method of helping other players. The previous game required a consumable item to leave blood messages-notes that warn players about enemy ambushes, clue them in on secrets, or deviously trick them into a deathtrap. Blood messages can now be left anywhere without requiring an item. If your blood message is ranked highly by others, you recover a little HP. It may not be much, but the survivors of Dark Souls' vicious world must take what they can get.
Speaking of the new world of Dark Souls II, we explored a new area called the Huntsman's Corpse during a hands-on session with the public beta(starting on PlayStation 3 in October). The location is filled with dreary woods, cave networks, and stone ruins. I battled gaunt fiends with flaming torches and lumbering brutes carrying sickles in each hand. Basic movement and combat feels identical to Dark Souls, but the previous game's occasionally jittery animations are smoothed out. I died multiple times at the local minions' hands, and while navigating pitch black caverns with deadly cliffs. Players still have to run back to the point where they died to recover their souls(Dark Souls II's experience and currency), or it's lost forever following another death. Despite being rusty and receiving a beating, I dragged myself to a bonfire where I was able to checkpoint my progress and level up.
From Software could've designed a by-the-numbers sequel with new enemies and locations. To give players something they could expect wouldn't be the Dark Souls way, however. Instead of rewarding its fans for enduring the original Dark Souls, From Software is taking the opportunity to punish players brave(or stupid) enough to come back for more.

Re: DARK SOULS 2 - All info so far Thread - Interviews, Trailers, etc. - Release Date: March 2014
You could just unplug your internet cable, that would work for sure!
I'm quite excited about the move, I love invading and being invaded but it's just personal preference I guess, for me it really builds the tension. On the plus side they've introduced a number of mechanisms that aid you if you're worried about it. A ring that instantly summons blue Phantoms when you're invaded for example... They have at least tried to balance it whilst upping the multiplayer aspect
Personally I like it, I don't think you should worry too much!

Hm. I've been thinking about it a while myself, Rage... and while it scares me (alot I die to invaders constantly), I am not too worried. Being able to have a guaranteed helping hand (i.e. the Blue Phantoms) makes me feel considerably better. So long as the summoning issues are smoothed out, that is.
On another note: the way that article is worded is a bit.... odd. :/ While I'm not an expert with all that's been revealed in the beta, some of that info sounds a bit misinterpreted on GI's part. "These glowing blue defenders are automatically summoned to your aid when you encounter enemy black phantoms, who are powerful foes spawned by other players." - makes it sound like blues are there to defend you from gravelordin'. -_- Also "blood messages"? Are they really called that, or is the writer confusing "messages" and "blood stains"?

Re: DARK SOULS 2 - All info so far Thread - Interviews, Trailers, etc. - Release Date: March 2014
^ It sounds to me like it's just written by someone who isn't really a Dark Souler and doesn't know what things are/are called.
I'm all for invasions/invading, but anyone whose played for extended periods knows that there are some days/areas where you just run into the same invaders over and over that are just doing everything they possibly can to destroy any enjoyment you might be taking from the game. I'm a little iffy about the choice of implementing a system where if that happens, and effectively makes an area of the game impassable, there's nothing you can do about it except disconnect from the system and rob yourself of having other online interactions. Take today, for example. I'm doing a DkS run after not having played for quite awhile, and I decided I wanted a summon for the gargoyles, so I reversed my hollowing, and ran for Solaire and Lautrec. Despite sprinting practically the whole way I was invaded by the same guy with high level lightning gear and BS spammed every time I tried for it, so after a good 3 goes of it I gave up, didn't reverse my hollowing, and faced them alone. It's nice to have the option of getting players like that off your back, and that's not even getting into the whole issue of hackers. Both of which are problems that we all know are going to persist regardless of what's implemented. I'm going to reserve my full judgement until I see first hand how it's implemented with all the other new systems, but so far, considering my past experiences with DeS and DkS, this is the first thing about DkS2 that I've read that I really don't like.
It's not even that I get pissed at people for playing like that. I mean whatever, as far as I'm concerned people can play however they want. I took those lightning backstabs with a smile on my face, and the last time he invaded me I sprinted at him, turned, and bowed at the wall while he got into position for the BS. I could care less, but I could care less because I have the option of removing him from my game when he starts to interfere with my enjoyment. I just think it's a mistake for them to take that option away.

So if this is accurate...
Then Japan is giving away in game items for pre-order,
The UK is getting physical, game related swag...
Logically speaking then, the USA should be getting replica items (in game ----> physical item ------> big physical item)
Whatever store gives me a real suit of Faraam Armor has my preorder.

UPDATE:
So Japan still has the preorder weapons.
The UK has some cool swag
Over on the NA Facebook yesterday they very happily announced that US preorders will receive an upgrade to the Black Armor Edition while supplies last.
Wait....what was that?
Didn't they already announce that was a thing? For EVERYONE?
US gets a sick burn. Still holding out hope I suppose....
