It's time to discuss something...

Will Patches make an appearance once again? Or maybe we'll get a little Maiden in Black to vary? Maybe they'll just straight out return Tarkus or perhaps Solaire?

I'm sure those are the 4 most known Soul Series characters. But yeah, do you want to see a throwback to any character?

Patches will. He's been in both games so he's heading down the Cid route (there's probably a trope for that). I don't think anyone else will though.

I would love to have the Maiden in Black as long as the same woman voiced her. Her voice, her strange half-accent and odd delivery, is mesmerizing. Can't imagine we'll get her, but sure would love it if we did.

I think that Chester is most likely because since we are once again going to be undead it tells us one of these things will likely be in effect:

1: the game is set a long time in the future when the flames are fadeing again

2: the game is set before Gwyn linked the first flame

3: the game is set in the same time frame as DkS

4: (unlikely) it is asumed that we chose the the dark lord ending

Chester is most likely because aside from the gods (who are mostly dead at the end of DkS) he is the only one who resonably fits within all of those because his time is not known
Its to bad that that is the case because as nice as it will be to see that creepy grin I would like to see Solaire and Tarkus

If I saw Patches here is what i'm going to do:
1- walk slowly away from him before even trying to talk to him.
2- equip the strongest weapon i have with both hands and use any item that will make it even more powerful.
3- set my camera so that i don't mess him.
4- charges as fast as i can and beat the living hell out of him.
happy ending.

But no seriously, i think IF he appeared he'll already attack you as soon as he sees you. Because it's clearly now people who played any of the souls game knows him and will attack him.

Do we know if it's a prequel or a sequel yet?

I hope its not a prequel, but I do hope there is a fair amount of time traveling, so we can understand more of Lordran. I don't mind the heavy story in items and areas and having to dig for it, but I would like a little straightforwardness for some questions. I prefer when I have to make a hard decision (to link or not to link), but in its current way, its like, who cares what I do, I don't even really know.

Tarkus is dead, if it is a sequel.

I am guessing Patches will. Solaire is probably my favourite character from the Souls games, but I am hoping he wont show up personally. For me, Solaire is the main protagonist of the first Dark Souls game. Not us, the player. He is the only NPC avaible at the Gwyn fight, after all. So that is where he belongs. It would be cool to see references in item descriptions though.

If its a prequel i'd like to see Seigmeyer when he was just a shallot, BOOM, i'm here all week!!

If Patches returns, I'd like for him to be old and repentant, and he becomes as the new Solaire. A steadfast companion who's always there when you need him, that is, until the very end, when you have come to fully trust and love him and then he goes back to his old ways, and gets you one more time.

Patches follows you up to half way, in which then he turns the level to make you fall to your death.

Honestly, I hope there are no returning characters (with the exception of Patches, because he's Patches goddammit).

We see some EXTREMELY similar characters between DeS and DkS, and I don't want to see the series get trapped re-hashing and re-iterating the same characters in different settings.

Well i think we arent going to see again any of the chars from dks with maybe some particular exceptions like patches, but i'd love to see references and more stuff about our loved Solaire, the allmighty Tarkus and king jeremiah, so easely forgotten.

I hope no one returns, in Dark Souls you have the option to kill all of them. Depending on how you play, they each have different endings to their stories. I'd rather no one returns, and it is never explained what happened to them so the player can assume whatever they did in Dark Souls, is what happened in the story.

I think they'll throw in patches again just as a litle tradition

I think popularity amongst players may get tarkus back, or maybe flush him out as a 'proper' NPC, due to the strange messed up timeline in the souls world this could happen in both prequel or sequel.

I'd love to see a return of a maiden in black style npc, a level up NPC so that you have to return to the centre of of game (firelink) for levelling up. I think that would make more sense lorewise too than being able to inexplicably get more powerful just sitting at a fire.
