    Hey guys,

As some of you might know I'm all about sharing strats so we can all improve, and raise the level played in Dark Souls PvP.

Thanks to the wonderful "All Activity" tab on YT, and for Rosie watching/commenting on this, I was able to find this nice piece of information.

All credit for this vid goes to OrosGoodArm:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXQpZcFTW58

The first vid on this by OrosGoodArm was released about a month ago, so if this is old news for anyone I apologise, but I think this should be brought to light for everyone to play around with.

    Happy Hunting! big grin

This technique and the backstep properties were known for quite a while, however, nobody that I know has actually made practical use of it as the timing for the backstep invincibility is very short. I suppose I could try it like how I tried kicking.

this is pretty awesome, not for the backstab part, but for the closing the gap attack part.

Edit: the backstab part of it seems like it just over complicates the roll BS... so i don't even find that useful if i wanted to do a backstab

Yeah I'm really digging how quickly you can close the gap, and also have a constant change of direction when trying to dead angle. Instead of having to run past my enemy with MSGS to get the dead angle, I now have many more options thanks to the back step. I'm having a ton of fun with it!

not really. sprinting up to them unlocked with your shield up is.. the spears tracking is bad once u go to their left or right, once you get the pattern down theyll just wiff half the time or more.

This is why the SKS is the best, that horizontal sweep R2.

also why is it called the Ravioli step? like I don't get it at all

i'm gonna laugh at anyone who does call it that.. besides this is old tech anyways, it's like me posting a roll bs video and calling it the sonic stab.

btw you can sonic stab the sks r2 if you catch them telegraphing it.

Sorry Rifter, didn't realise you'd already posted it. Just felt it was another bit of info that some people might like to play with. Seems like some of the guys like what they see, so as long as some new people get to experiment I'm happy happy

its whatever. when i found it back in like august or september i told a bunch of people and spent a solid chunk of time finding it's weaknesses and strengths that i planned to share... but i stopped.

the reason? using the tech itself is incredibly sensitive to timing and can be effected by lag and framerate issues, resulting in you going the completley opposite direction you intended too.

also, when you use this.. lmfao ravioli step. this directional backstep in an aggressive manner the chance of being backstabbed is increased tenfold. even if the opposing player doesn't want to backstab you you're effectively launching your back towards them.

the only real use this tech has is with the great scythe after a roll, launching your back away
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6s0XRILmPg&feature=youtu.be
or with a greatsword after the r1, launching your back away
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyKh65uuouI&feature=youtu.be

and these are more tricks you pull out of a hat rather than something you always do. but hey that's just what i've noticed.

Like I KNOW why a lot of **** gets its weird Jargon names. Like wavedashing in SSBM, or the story behind PT Jank, a popular style of deck in Magic the Gathering. I know WHY The Gloves of Rapid disenchantment are called such.

I have no idea what on earth caused this particular skill to be deemed "Ravioli step"

because your back looks like ravioli after using this tech to much from backstabs.

i thought wavedash was because when you did that right there was a white wave and your character dashed forwards or backwards.. that name makes sense.

Yeah wavedashing's name makes a lot of sense, even though you can't really see the save very well in SSBM in 64 it was more prominent and thats when It was named. (An aside it's performed by using your airdodge as soon as your jump leaves the group, forcing you diagonally down back into the stage, this causes the physics engine to make your character slide a distance forward or backward (without changing which way you face)

Also "Your back will look like Ravioli?" What does that even mean? Raviolis are square and delicious
