Who opened it? I'm sure it's not just there for the sake of being there. So share your thoughts on why you think it's there or who you believed to have opened it or ponder what could have been kept inside it at one point. It's been bugging me for awhile lol.

It contains covenant rings, the abysswalking ring and the lava ring, if you so happen to "lose" these rings throughout your playthrough.

There's a glitch where you can use the chest to farm souls. Not sure if that should be added to the wiki though.

Yes pretty much. You may accidentally drop those and to lose them would be game-breaking. Especially ones like the Orange Charred Ring or Artorias Ring.

I actually think there's something to this chest, as if they really wanted you to not drop those rings they would've just made them undroppable. So my point is, I think there's a valid point to dropping the rings. Just not sure what.

Well, that seems too obvious. Although I do vaguely remember some guy saying he got a prism stone by trade the covenant of artorias with Artorias' grave while wearing some sort of artorias equipment...Maybe something similar is possible with the charred orange ring?

Yes. That was in Glyphblade's page. It is too clustered to look for it, but it's their if you like clarification. The 8th colour was not found for the prism yet as well, as I seem to recall.
The chest also is closed, if the player brings the black eye orb to gwyns, but it is empty. Another find in Glyphblade's page.

Ok then...maybe something with the orange charred ring. The centipede demon was born from the charred ring, right? Or was it Ceaseless Discharge?

Centipede Demon. Dropped by the Son of Chaos, the only son that the Witch of Izalith had. Having debates still as to who he is, though. Kirk or Ceaseless.

So Quelaan/Quelana are both daughters of chaos, maybe they have some connection to the son of chaos. Has anyone tried either dropping the ring near Quelaan (the near dead spider one in case I screwed up the names), or speaking to her with both the witch's and the charred ring? Alternatively, you could get it before beating ceaseless discharge and then drop it beneath him while walking around in the lava lake, or drop it in the boss area.
