while free is always a plus mumble is free short of paying for a server (unless you want to set one up yourself in which case it'd all be free) and I did offer to let people use a server me and my community are paying for
mumble apps exist for smartphones just like skype so that's a bit of a moot point

I'm perpetually signed onto a mumble server similar to being on skype or steam and the nature of voip actually makes spur of the moment stuff on that seem a tad more organic however that's me
