Building a Guide Empty Building a Guide

Post by barrywilkins Fri Jan 18, 2013 6:34 am

With the Bottomless Box glitch gone, I'm sure quite a few people are left with no real will to make new builds to test out. To this end, I'm thinking of writing a guide on how one can get through the game as fast as they can at pretty much any Soul Level range. My main question is: Has this already been done? I'd feel a little bummed out if it turns out that the guide I wrote has already been done a million times on this site and is more or less just repeating what the other 50 guides have said.

If it hasn't been done to death, how would I go about bringing this all to the site?
    Thanks in advance.

It may not have been done per se, but you could totally either look towards speed runners for tricks or check guides by people like ENB, they give a lot of commentary. Not to mention all one has to do is watch that "overpowered in 10 minutes" video and bam, you've got yourself an overpowered weapon.

I don't think it's been done, so go ahead! One thing I would recommend, is you make multiple versions. For instance, it's quite easy to get the Gravelord Sword as soon as you're in Lordran and roflstomp the game, but that could leave you with stats you didn't want. So you could make a version with Str only, Dex only, Str & Dex, Int, Fth, etc. Just many versions with different stats left at base.

Also, I think we already have some farming tips (on the wiki especially), but you could slip a few words here and there on the fastest way of obtaining upgrade materials. For me, now, the most time consuming thing isn't making my build, it's upgrading all the gear again.

Even if it's been done (I can't think of ever personally running into such a guide) already that shouldn't deter you from going for it. If you feel inspired and believe you have something worthwhile to offer then I'm sure your guide would be hugely successful.

Being the first doesn't necessarily mean you're the Holy Grail; alternatives are always welcome and, inadvertently, drive the overall quality of everything up.

there was a video (by i forget who) called "everything before the gargoyles" that could be of help. might be good to mine it for ideas.

vageta311, unless there's another version floating around.

But yeah, a guide would be helpful~ Chances are everything you do has been covered inside of other guides, but having all the useful information in one would be very helpful.

Having sections for each stat/build would be good too, since people might have no interest in getting STR related items, or heavy armors etc.
