this interests me.
I've always avoided using elemental weapons for my assassins because they make those loud noises, but if they outdamage normal weapons for backstabs then maybe they'll be worth it..

I assume that 40 dex with a rapier/dagger or 40-50 str with a demon great machete/great club/axe, etc. would do more.

I'm fairly sure the elemental counterparts are slightly more...haven't tested since the nerf though...

The elemental counterparts did the same damage prepatch. Postpatch, 40 Dex is going to do more.

on crits?? nooooooo....my chaos rapier hit 300 higher than a +15 rapier on ripostes.

You don't have 40 Dex then. Chaos barely beat out 40 Dex prepatch.

You're right I had 45 dex. 8) pre-patch tested on hollows. +15 1100 or so...chaos did around 1350.

On hollows, yes. On other people, (PvP damage calculation favors a single damage type) elementals are less effective. See above video, and then consider that the eles are AR nerfed by 8-10%.

I think eles might have an advantage in PvE still, but I haven't used an ele in PvE for such a long time I don't know how the nerf affected them. In PvP though scaling clearly comes out on top.
