Crying about lost souls. Empty Crying about lost souls.

Post by WandererReece Fri Feb 08, 2013 2:33 pm

I see lots of people post stuff like, "I lost 30 mil souls. I died before I could retrieve them. I hate this game".

This is what I think when I read these, "If you had 30 mil souls, then why weren't you spending them? If you really needed them, then why didn't you use a ring of sacrifice when retrieving them? It's probably because you didn't actually need them. Therefore you're crying about nothing."

Anyone else think the same thing?

Kinda. Because, at least I think, that if you're struggling with the game you wouldn't be running around with all those souls, you'd probably have spent them leveling up.

I guess it's a cathartic for people to moan about lost souls.

It's really just an attempt to brag about how many souls they had amassed, and I suspect most of the time it is greatly exaggerated, or made up entirely.

    LOL

alot of ppl made their lvl cap long ago, and if u pvp the souls just stack up.
so u can easily have 20kk souls after a couple of days, pvping a few h a day.
    Crying about lost souls. 3358384175
and going through ng++++ etc also make ur souls stack up

i take it as a badge of honor when i kill someone before they recover, it's the greatest kind of hatemail. and unless you wanna upgrade everything in the game, souls just lose their value sometime during NG+ (at least for me that's true since i reach my ideal SL and have upgraded everything i could ever want, and it happens about mid-NG+)

There isn't really any way to spend those souls after you have level your character to the level you want it to be and upgraded all your stuff.
I lost 200 million souls from one of my characters just few days ago and i was devastated.
Souls are my trophy, my collection, my....precious~
I'm glad I still got my character that has the most of my souls, but it still feels bad when you lose such a huge amount that you have gathered with blood sweat and tears.

Honestly, I was happy to lose 14 mil souls on my best PvP'er, I felt it reminded me of the noob days of dragon head glitch, bb glitch, etc. I finally died twice xD

DOn't care about souls. But its terrible when you have 9000000 souls, and die, and then you find a nice weapon and wants to upgrade it, but then you remember that you don't have the souls to buy titanite and stuff.

    Well it sucks.

But losing 99 humanity its even worse

Now THAT is horrifying. When that happened to me, I just put down my controller and just stopped playing for a few days.

I read a book. Took a jog. And did some homework. I'm never putting down my controller again!

    lol!

Hey now, buying 99 of everything in the game is quite expensive. I do a lot of co-op in Anor Londo and make occasional trips to the blacksmith to buy a stack of twinkling titanite. Upgrading everything burns through titanite (and souls) FAST.

That's what I do if I ever get to a point that I have more souls than I feel comfortable carrying around. I buy titanite.

Souls don't matter much to me, it's the Humanity that matters.

why would you go around with 30 mil souls on you?
thats like the worst decision ever made in-game.

personally, i think that once you get enough souls to level up, you should go back to the bonfire until you are sure you can take the area.

just losing 19k souls made me give up my winning streak today, finally cleared anor londo in one sitting then died fighting in the forest twice.

as for humanity, i never carried more than 6 counts of it.

30 mil. was just a number I pulled out of my head. I read a lot of stuff where people lost X mil. souls, and X was usually 2 digits.

I know upgrading stuff can burn through a ton of souls, but I buy and upgrade stuff before I get 1 mil souls.

I agree humanity is probably worth complaining about. It's so multifunctional.

Just made a new character. I've never done a PURE sorcerer before, so I did that. I was toting around the 13k souls I had after killing the gargoyles, on my way to the magic blacksmith, and I lost it. Like, instantly.

Same thing happened to the few thousand souls I had from the tutorial boss.

I take pride in my skills in Dark Souls, but I guess everyone sucks as long as they're doing something new.

19k souls and 6 humanity is chump change at the higher levels. 30 million might be a bit much (for high-level pvp only) but 1-2 million is entirely reasonable, especially in NG+ and higher where clearing an area + boss can give several hundred thousand. Also, for many people souls shouldn't automatically get spent to level up because people often want to maintain their SL for multiplayer purposes.

I always feel a bit miffed when I have a load of souls and die on the way to spending them (didn't know the Anor Londo Super Sentinel could heal...), but it's Humanity that sucks - mainly as you can't spend it, so you just sort of amass it until the inevitable n00b mistake that costs you EVERYTHING.

Oh well, maybe there'll be a super Vagrant wandering around later on.
