which is the best katana?

I have a quick question for anybody who cares to answer. Is there a katana
that the community agrees is the best one out of the four?

(someone is making a pyro build that uses a katana for melee, and they are
kind of new to the game. I dont know which to tell them is the best one so
I can help build their character)

Chaos Blade

Even in matters of move pool?

Don't even ask why. Just read my sig and use it.

It's reach an d damage are better than the others, only the washing pole has more range. Its health drain also works nicely with RTSR. Its moveset is lacking, but I think its other qualities more than make up for it.

Eh. Most people like chaos blade. It outdamages the uchigatana and the masramoewk katana, and has longer range. It also has the quickest bleed build up. The only downside is that it eats off 20 health every time you hit someone

The Iaito is the best katana because all the katanas are good weapons and it has the sexiest moveset.

The Iaito is my all time favorite, but the Chaos Blade is the best blade.....

Definately Laito because Moveset > Damage

You'll get insane phantom damage from the washing pole, might not suit your dex build unless you wanna go elemental instead. You dont necessarily need dex if you're only going to use combustion pyros.

Iaito for dem R2s, 5 units of weight, and second highest bleed build up of all the katanas.
Chaos Blade for highest AR, highest bleed, range, and useless R2s.

Or you can just dual wield them. Win-win for everybody.

Washing Pole for insane range.
Uchigatana for... well, maybe when you prefer the Washing Pole over the other two katanas not for its range, but its moveset while not being able to equip the the washing pole without breaking an equip burden breakpoint.

No clue, I remember using the joke that it was a katana and not the protagonist from Death Note. The proper is Iaito, a sword designed to be drawn from the sheath as an attack.

Also note, in Dissidia Final Fantasy, a special quality of some weapons is called the "Iai Strike +1%" meaning that every hit you make there is a one percent chance to "break" you opponent's bravery.

Also another note, Iaijutsu is the art of drawing the katana from its sheath and killing the opponent in one go (you may have seen this performed when badass sword wielding guys in an anime kill their enemy in one swipe), or so how I understand it.

Thanks for the explanation. Although it was mainly just me wondering if people were doing it on purpose or not.

I dont really know why i used L .
Probably because Iaito doesnt make much sense in any Language other than Japanese since i and a don't really fit together.

For a Phyro it would be the Chaos Blade. For someone with int. or fai. it would be the Uchigatana.

Chaos Blade has the most damage, but it's the only one that can't be buffed.

Uchigatana has the 2nd most damage and a thrust attack.

Iato has slightly less damage then the Uchigatana, but doesn't have a thrust attack.

Washing Pole weighs the most, has the least amount of damage, but superior range.

I am an uchigitana person mostly because its a good combination of speed and range with its thrust move.

Iaito, since you can cosplay as Rurouni Kenshin (who uses the draw techniques others mentioned above).

Iaito, though i personally have never used a katana, i dont even know where it is yet, it seems like a better choice than the others.

It's location is fairly obvious. When you enter Blighttown via the depths, go along the first walkway. There will be a platform, and a corpse, with the Iaito on. To get to it, you must at least be on mid roll, and do a run and jump on the nearest part of the walkway.

The Murakumo is a curved Greatsword, not a katana. I'm not sure if sarcasm was implied, so I just gave a normal answer.

It looks like a katana to me, and a murakumo is a name for a katana. Its a real man's katana and not a girly flimsy one like an uchi. Any weapon that doesn't have at least 500 AR with the +15 upgrade I classify as girly.

It is not under the "katana" classification in this game, so I will not call it a katana in this game - even if it's a sweet weapon.
