Speculation: Moonlight Greatsword

So what are your guys' thoughts? We KNOW this weapon is going to be in the game, there is no denying it.
In DeS, it was the weapon of the Moonlite Knight Bito that ignored sheilds.
In DkS, it is a Dragon Weapon capable of immitting strong beams of magical power, obtained by cutting off the tale of Seathe the Scaleless.
Now my question is, if there is no Seathe, and the game is not taking place in Lordron, HOW are we going to get our hands on this thing without there being a Lore Snafu? Also, what do you guys think it's going to be able to do?

My guess is, that it'll be a boss weapon this time around, maybe you beat one of Seath's monstrosities and by using it's soul you can create the Moonlight Greatsword.

I'll be honest with ya, I want Greatswords to get a buff, be like they were before the 1.06 patch. MLGS was my favorite weapon in the game up until that happened.

Still love my Claymore, even if I need to start seeing other women right now. Hopefully they just reduce the Poise damage instead of making them slower than hell.

Yes! This! Give them the same poise break as a Katana or something, just gimmie back mah fast swings!

Fun Fact: Moonlight also pops up in all of the Armored Core games as a blade for a mech. I thought that was pretty cool when I figured it out.

But admittedly I do hope it's a drop again rather than something to be crafted with a boss soul, just so it'd be a bit easier to obtain.

And also Moonlight Sword (or similarly named) has been around since King's Field games. So yeah, pretty decent chance it will be on DkS2. I disagree with Noob-of-Artorias in the sense that I don't think Seath, from DkS, will be in DkS2 not even just by name. Things might change dramatically and we should be prepared for that. Seath is probably a nobody or doesn't even exist in the past timeline that DkS2 will be in, I speculate.

Having said that, I'm sure there will be another source to get it from. Another question remains, what will be be about now? It's always something magical (as opposed to physical damage) so I don't know. I do think that it won't be for mage builds this time around though, for the sake of rotation. Demon's Souls Large Sword of Moonlight was for faith builds for example.

things im pretty sure of:
it'll be a great sword
it'll deal magic damage
and it will maintain the blue crystal/magic look

other than that its a toss up as the focus of the sword changes, in des it bypassed shields, in dks it had ranged attacks, next time it could do a self buff or something.

It's known that FromSoft puts a weapon in each of their games with "MOONLIGHT" in its name. Arguably the strongest and hardest weapon to obtain over everything else. Demon souls's and Dark souls's Moonlight sword was... a downgrade from its original power. Damned sword could destroy anything and everything in one hit, even bosses.

I'd like to see it be something other than a greatsword this iteration. Like, a 1H straight sword. Switch it up a bit.

its a trademark sword, its been in more FROM games then just Demon/Dark Souls. the looks won't change

Next time it should be the main body of the sword as tradition, but with an extra light based length... And it would be a badass magical ultra greatsword.

Let's be honest, there is a distinct lack of heavy weaponry with magical power.

Hate to be all doom and gloom, but there was alot of lack of love to Heavy Weapons in general. I'm starting to love my GreatAxe, but still.

This time it'll scale with Faith and Int and will be super OP. It will give you stamina regen.

Yeah I've never played Evergrace, but that really doesn't look like a greatsword. If so, it's really short. Looks like a pretty big broadsword.

its at the half way point, a hand and a half sword if you will, similar to the bastard sword irl, just much lighter due to its materials thus it can be swung about one handed easily. and i say the sword should have no scaling but have a resistence requirement of 40 with 450 ar
