The success of a relatively unorthodox build in the Ceaseless Assault event led me to try out some more unusual, risky builds, but still with the nice touch of strategy built into the madness.
This build revolves completely around balancing the power of your weapons in both hands. The Broadsword in the left hand provides a quick slash attack, taking away 20 poise. This move can quickly be linked into an R1 with either of the main-hand weapons (Bastard Sword/Murakumo). The Falchion gives the build a parry option, but a slightly slower swing speed.
Obviously, the keyword to this build is variety. Mixing up the movesets of a curved sword, straight sword, greatsword, and the deadly curved gs throws most opponents off balance and hopefully will make them vulnerable to a poise-breaking combo (L1/L2+R1). In the event that you begin to stunlock, it's often safe to perform 2 consecutive R1 attacks, followed by another L1/L2 to link it back together and throw of the timing of their toggle parry/escape roll.
Also, a minor detail here is that the weapons look great together, but I'm a sucker for aesthetics. The medium roll does cause some problems considering the lack of shield. Evading enemy maneuvers can be tricky due to this, but this is somewhat helped out by the 61 poise count. This allows me to absorb 3 consecutive hits from a smaller weapon (2 hits if 2-handed).
Definitely risky, definitely not optimum, but a load of fun and very versatile and interesting, which is what the PvP-game should be about. Not just winning every time with the ultimate builds. Am I right?
