New troll method, and it's annoying.

So some guy I played with once asked for help. He added me as a friend so we could chat. He messaged me he was level 30 and wanted help with the Taurus Demon. I messaged him that I would help. I was level 20.

I'm waiting and 15 minutes later I asked, "Do you see me yet?" He replied, "I already defeated the Taurus Demon. Now I'm at the Butterfly area."

I went there, placed my sign near the fire, and messaged its' location. After about 15 minutes I messaged him, "Do you see me yet?", and he replied, "Not yet." After a few more minutes I asked, "Are you human?", and he replied yes. I reply, "What's you're level?", and he replied, "I'm level 50."

I replied, "You messaged you were level 30! I'm only level 20", and he appologized. I went to my box and consumed some souls to level up to 40. Then I messaged him, "I'm level 40 now." I'm waiting, and I messaged him, "You should be able to summon me now. Do you see me yet?" He replied no. I replied, "Did you level up?", and he replied no. I asked, "You still by the fire?", and he replied, "No, I'm at the boss door."

I messaged, "I told you I placed my sign by the fire." He replied, "I got tired of waiting. Place your sign by the boss door." I replied, "You had to wait because you gave me false information! If your already at the butterfly, then you obviously don't need me." Then I blocked him.

He is probably the most annoying player ever. He's also the first player I blocked. If I could post his name then I would, but unfortunately I can't. Just be careful about who you try to help, because some of them just enjoy wasting your time.

I don't know if that's really a "new" method of trolling. Sounds like that's more confined to that certain douchebag.

That has never happened to me, thankfully. I don't think it's much of a new thing though, like Pendant said it's probably just that one guy doing it.

^No your not Tolvo, I've hit the max six times in the past 2 years I've been on PSN. I have to delete the old ones every once and a while which isn't really a bad thing seeing as some of the people on my block list were back from when I only played Modern Warfare 2.

I've had confusion and problems like this before, but was often just a case of trying to get each other's soul signs to appear. That guy just sounds like an impatient loser who thinks phantoms are his slaves.

Still get more annoyed at people who BC out as soon as they're summoned though, or just randomly halfway through an area. Kept happening to me in Tomb of the Giants with my Sunbro, so in the end I just decided to solo it.

Sometimes people are trying to help specific people who are in human form. So they're on a time limit before said friend is invaded, meaning they have to BC out right away and put their sign down and be ready to get summoned in case of invaders.

I've had such instances, but if the person asks afterwards I will reply telling them I was trying to help out a friend.

I just don't reply and delete their Messages .
If their still dead set on sending me Messages and i dont read them it's my method of trolling them

I've never blocked anyone, I prefer to just toy with people, generally people who argue with me are complete idiots so contorting their words and causing them total embarrassment isn't exactly hard. They usually stop messaging me after a few messages.

I've only blocked people that send me spam. Such as the one about sending a copy and pasted message 5 times to get free PSN cards.


Either I usually argue someone to death (that somehow ends up the both of us sending friend requests usually. )

Or if the person thinks they're clever trying to annoy me, I usually annoy em back. I've had some experience in that department.

I had a guy randomly friend request me one time. We did one fight before I quit for the day and the next time we got on we were having problems syncing. After waiting and reloading multiple times I sent him a message and he's like 'oh, I gave up'. delete/block/wish terrible things

It's not really a troll method because the time it takes to invest in the prank requires that you waste a lot of your own time. It seems like most of us have experienced this in one way or another. It must be new players who just expect us to be sitting around waiting. I don't mind if someone wants to do a playthrough, as long as it's convenient to me. Maybe they just don't know how the coop works, or maybe they're just retards who think that everyone should help them. Either way, if anyone asks me to put my sign down, and they're not human, one more time........

Yeah, I don't think people who do stuff like this are trolls. I just think it's people being selfish, inexperienced and/or stupid to varying degrees. Some probably are arrogant enough to think they're doing you a favor, or just don't even consider you or your perspective. Others are probably just oblivious. It doesn't take much to figure it out though, so I really don't care. At best there has to be at least an unwillingness to think of other people to behave in this way. At worst it's borderline sociopath-like behavior.

For him to be like that I think he's just an idiot lol. Lots of them anyways especially new players that went for Dark Souls because of all the hype.

Wait, there are SL 30 people doing Taurus Demon and SL 50 doing Moonlight Butterfly?

I thought that was wierd too, but once I did get to level 25 without leaving the Burg, and I know a couple people who like summoning other people for the easy bosses. Although I never had a level 30ish person request help for the Taurus Demon.

Some people like to take their time, or just aren't very good and try to level their way up. Plus, burg summoners tend to want help with Havel, or are on NG+ (I got summoned onto it by some speed runners who were at lvl 25, which got me a LOT of souls early on - nice!)

My friend messaged me, "I was trying to help someone in the Darkroot Garden, and he told me to put my sign near the fire. I was waiting to be summoned. I asked him if he was human and what his level is. Then I asked him if he saw it yet. He replied, 'No, I'm fighting the glass monsters. Put you're sign near the Hydra.'"

I replied, "LOL, sounds like a troll." He replied, "I thought it probably was after first time he did it." I replied "He did this before? That's definately a troll."

He replied, "Yes, he did it before too, but I got back at him. Later he wanted me to summon him so I could drop him some humanity. I agreed and told him to put his sign by the fire. Then I left the area LOL. He kept messaging stuff like, 'Do you see it yet?' and, 'Are you summoning me?' I kept replying, "I don't see it yet, but I'm looking."
