I just had a rapier wielding,hornet ring wearing mothergiant tell me I'm a bad player for ONE backstab after parry spamming almost non-stop for two minutes while I tried to hit him between parries.Then he went on to criticise my cosplay character,Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII,for having a katana.

The question I would like to ask in this thread is how you all see parry spam,with or without the critical bonus.Also,is it uncool to BS punish?

Parry spam is annoying but it's easily identifiable, in that case I don't see a problem with the BS punish. No chain-BS mind you, but a BS to send a message is Ok, this just IMO though.

You parry spam me, expect a BS in return. I mean seriously. BS are not evil. Plus, if you are doing a repetitive and predictable action with some recovery time, why wouldn't I punish it? He's just hoping to get a lucky rapier HR parry in.

I've never been able to chain anyway.This was in the forest mind you and I'm by myself.Just wondering if he had any right to whine and how everyone else looks at it.I had dozens of opportunities to do it,instead I just kicked him to see if he'd learn.Nope...

BS punishes are ok, but usually frowned upon. Kick-slashing with your katana works just as well and won't get you hatemail.

I'm hearing this talk about "bs is okay to send a message." Meanwhile, I can't even seem to find someone with enough honor to neglect bs's at all. DkS "PvP" seems to revolve around it sad

I heard it's a good work out, great for those among us who indeed, don't lift.

BS for it, they deserve it if they can't use the lag to parry then their fault not yours

It's a reality Myz, you can't expect random fights in DkS even duels to be free of BS. For that, you got to get in a organized fight club with a group of guys or something of that ilk with the specific rules you seek.

This. If someone is bold enough to try to parry my Murakumo, supposing I'm too lazy to deadangle, I just pull out my Great Combustion; they immediately stop parry attempts.

I'd just like if I didn't get hatemail for everything I do.Just killed a guy without ever taking a hit from his crystal magic demon machete.Didn't backstab or parry,just rolled out of every attack.I don't even have a shield and I still get hatemail often.

I don't tend to backstab unless I see dark bead,wrath spam or two enemies at once and I never parry unless someone tries to RB spam(I'm on Xbox).Duels are more fun when there is no overpowered attacks involved.At least that's my opinion.

Hatemail is usually completely void of reason. Essentially - you beat someone and they didn't like it. They they craft an eloquent response and let you know how terrible of a person you are. Ignore, block, and carry on.

Hatemail is a constant in DkS. People rage over anything because they lose. I once got hatemail saying i "moved around too much."

Parry Spam is one of the most easily punished things in the game, and the fact is if you don't know and expect that while doing so, then you deserve the backstab 1000x over.

I like to punish parry spammers with a point blank Dark Bead, that sends a message.

My favorite strategy against people with Buckler shield is to roll at them with my Zweihander, then walk around and backstab them. You guys should try it yourself. Bonus points if you can do it five times in a row to the same guy without him catching on.

Backstab, kick + attack, spells.

If someone doesn't like it, they shouldn't parry spam in the first place, or at least be prepared for some sort of punishment.
