As I was looking at the fire keeper soul, I saw that the patch on your chest looks very similar. Perhaps you used to be a firekeeper? Maybe that is the part of the body that contains the soul firekeeper soul itself? This might bring up a lot of theories and it might just sound silly

Don't FKs have to be female and since the Chose Undead is of indeterminate sex that might v\complicate things.

Re: Were you a firekeeper?
It's likely that firekeepers have to be female, so chances are you weren't supposed to be a firekeeper because you can be a male. From what I've seen of the design of hollows these "patches" are apart of the design of an undead warrior. I could only assume that it has something to do with the Dark Soul or maybe just hints as to how we died.
Another idea I've had is that if you have played "Dragon's Dogma" we a see a similar wound on our character at the beginning once our heart has been ripped out. It may have something to do with what that, but I can't for the life of me figure out why we wouldn't have our hearts in place.

The "firekeeper scar" as it is known is common to all undead

Re: Were you a firekeeper?
Firekeepers must be female and they need to stick with one bonfire in wich they guard for the rest of their lives, correct? so, since the chosen undead can be both male and female and travels all around Lordran kindling any bonfires he wants makes me believe he cant possibly be a firekeeper.

Isn't that "scar" just the Dark Sign?

Re: Were you a firekeeper?
Anything is possible seeing as we never find that any other undead except fire keepers have kindled a bonfire.Reah mentions looking for the rite of kindling yet notice she hasn't lit or kindled any bonfire on the way through the catacombs.
Nowhere does it say firekeepers must be female. There are only 3 or 4 keepers but ten times the amount of bonfires. It may be coincidence that the surviving keepers are women.

Perhaps we could equate our "hearts" with our "humanity"? "Isn't it funny how humans never found any use for it until they were dead"?

Doesn't it say that the Humanities are found in a flap or cavity near the heart? I know there's something about that, might be in the firekeeper's soul description.

That only specifies Firekeeper, and it says that you can see their humanity swarming under their skin, since they are basically magnets for the stuff.

Well, that made me think of something else. I don't know how many other undead made their way down to the Abyss with Manus, but those Humanities did make a point of hovering toward you and ONLY you. Otherwise they'd just be sitting there forever.
