How active is this place?

It was most active just after the DLC hit and when Dark Souls 2 was announced.

You do post a lot compared to most, but I admit it has been pretty slow lately.

Oh yeah, it was more active. I think it'll stay like this until DkS2 and, I believe, this will be the Forums used for that game again.

I also don't get all the Guests either. Why are so many here but so few registering? Is that all the people on the Chatandgo? Does that have nothing at all to do with it?

You've just been giving a lot of input, it's not like you're spamming or anything.

And yes, the ratio of lurkers to posters/registered users astonish me.

You should have seen how active this place was when I started posting. Why, I remember when I still had just around 500 posts.

There was a time when I considered just going into lurker mode because I couldn't keep up with everything that was being posted.

Many active users left, and many joined, but I'm glad to see so many people in Events and stuff, I really think this community grew a lot after DLC

I can't speak much for the previous popularity of the place, but I think I do have an answer for why the ratio of lurkers to posters is so high: I was originally reluctant to post anything here due to my relative inexperience to Dark Souls, and so I think the lurkers are trying to learn more about how the community reacts to certain posts and the general knowledge of the regulars as a way to see if the forum is right for them. I do urge any guest looking at this post to join, though.

Well, most forums dedicated to a single thing tend to be slow, because there's only one main topic. We aren't 4chan after all!

That being said, it's probably slow because Dark souls had been around for a few years, the DLC is now old and Dark Souls II has no news.

I'm actually seeing a lot more people now registering on the forums, they don't post as often as some us but they're there.

I will admit this place is normally inactive when I log on, but that's because I get on at midnight.

Welcome, we actually try to be as friendly as possible for this very reason.

I'm also totally okay with people just viewing the forum. Some dislike the idea of them reading info of ours and not giving in return, I say it's perfectly fine for them to do so. Some people aren't social or just don't have an interest in the community aspect. Many just go to the wiki without contributing, so I'm fine with lurkers. I hope that people stop by and talk but it's fine if they don't.

I know no one has so far in this thread, I just felt like I should bring this up so that people don't feel like demonizing the lurkers.

a lot of the members on the forum, like me, have had this game since day one as you can imagine most of us only play the game once in a while.
