Seen it. Pretty dark comics for sure. Kind of like Guernica. First glance is easy to look past it

Re: Random Off-Topic
Do a Google image search of it. I just did and it's almost shocking seeing that subject matter depicted in the medium of comic books. The first image that came up for me was a group of mice with stars on their shirts being hung by a group of cats dressed in Nazi garb. It's pretty crazy.
What what?
^ Right? I searched it and saw mice and was about to write it off then started seeing the swastikas. Comics really are becoming a fine art form. I just read Persepolis not long ago, and it was amazing

Maus was in my high-school's library. I always thought that was pretty funny.

I have read Maus. I really liked reading it, it provided an interesting aspect into the war at the time, and how things really were.

To learn? I read stuff like that pretty frequently. I got Night by Elie Wiesel for Hanukkah this year and I stayed up all night reading it the entire thing. As a Jewish guy, with ancestors who died in camps, I'd be more offended if people stopped wanting to learn and be aware than if they didnt. It's part of our world's history. A horrific evil disgusting part, but that doesn't mean it should be ignored

It does, but it's not like I knew them or anything. It's just part of my heritage. Part of a lot of people's heritage. That's part of what's truly unfortunate.

Re: Random Off-Topic
Amen. I went on a Polish forum friendly to English looking for a translation for my last name. Got that pretty easily and then did a search for the likely derivative name. I don't have direct confirmation of relatives but it's not a common name in Poland and just seeing a likely lost relatives name spelled out on a list of dead is.....unsettling.
Two names on a list did more for my understanding of the war than any book.
Edit: I also had a grandfather who have great accounts from an American soldier perspective. Holding his Ruger souvenir while he told them was something special, even if a little morbid

Re: Random Off-Topic
We took a field trip in high school to watch Schindler's list. Wasn't impressed at all. Focused too much on the horror and violence. Saw Everything is Illuminated soon after it was released on DVD. That movie was more about the singular human response. A lot more connected I felt. I mention the comparison because Everything is Illuminated was more like seeing my last name in an unexpected way. The deepest human emotions always from the small stuff.

Eh I really liked Schindler's List. It's also about a man who was leading a very successful life in Nazi Germany, very profitable, and decided to throw it all away for his humanity, and the lives of however many others. Not many people who were in that position made that choice. Most of them were just anti semitic richard holes, or just didn't do anything for anyone but themselves because it was a dangerous place for them too. Oskar Schindler was an amazingly brave man, and he deserves whatever honoring people give him, and I probably wouldn't ever have known anything about him if not for the movie.
I love Everything is Illuminated too though.
You ever see the Pianist with Adrian Brody? I just watched it on Netflix for the first time not long ago. I really liked it

This wasn't the conversation I intended on starting at all. I just wanted to talk about a comic book I thought looked interesting

I thought Ralf Fiennes was horrifying in it too. He's always awesome though.
Watch it if you get the chance. It's about what happened in Poland

Re: Random Off-Topic
I really enjoyed schindler's list. Though I felt putting it all in black and white just for the one scene with the girl was a bit much... especially since that scene just left me confused.. Maybe I just didn't understand it, but still..
Anyways, I love how I'm staying up waiting just to get the streams for the new game of thrones soon as it gets uploaded.. im not even that into it!
