The Evil Eye Empty The Evil Eye

Post by Derpwraith Sat Apr 27, 2013 11:42 pm

Ring of the Evil Eye Description:

"According to legend, this ring contains the spirit of the evil eye, a dark beast which assaulted Astora.
The strength of the evil eye does not waver, and HP is absorbed from fallen enemies."

The Evil Eye has to be a creature from the Abyss, it attacked Astora which is a kingdom that I think has a connection to Lordran (The old saying told by Oscar).

Not only that but the description states that according to legend, the ring contains the spirit of the Evil Eye itself, the reason why the effect of this ring absorbs 30% of HP from fallen enemies.

The effect of the ring hints that it is a variant of the art of Lifedrain, what do you guys think?

i think the beast that is talked on the ring is manus maybe when he became insane he assaulted astora and maybe for that Artorias went to the abyss in some kind of revenge.

But he looses and the dark consume him thus loosing he capability of thinking.

that is my thought on 'em

Can't be, Manus has multiple eyes to be called, "The Evil Eye", and as far as I know he only influenced Oolacile.

We went 300 years into the past Dibs. It can't be Manus.

    I doubt it's Manus.

I hope we get some more insight on some of the things like this in Dark Souls 2.

What I want to know is

If it's got the spirit of a dangerous monster in it

Why is it lying around in the Depths?

I think it was mentioned in an older thread. I still would give it that a century or two passed for the place to turn into the forest for primary and secondary succession to occur.

I always assumed the dark beast of Astora was a being of gluttony feeding off the life of the living and leaving a path of destruction. Which is different from what the Abyss does as the Abyss takes control and corrupts the entire area it is in, twisting it and everything in it to monstrosities. Also it is not the eye of the beast but it's soul that is trapped in the ring, giving name as a ring of evil. Feed off the life of the fallen is worth that title. I won't contest that the ring should not be in Lordran but it makes sense and may be safer for it to be here. I have a assumption that there is a symbiotic relationship with the ring and wielder, though a small one. I think that through us, the beast can feed of the life force of our kills, it would make sense considering how much life even the basic hollow has. Therefore in return the ring gives us a small faction in return.

As for why is it in the depths my easiest guess would that someone dying tried to farm for life from the enemies and was not lucky.

It always seemed to run along the same general 'draining' theme of that area, the rats feeding of corpses in the sewer, quelaag's sister's attempt to drain the blightpus, power within and that weird bug thing that just looks like giant parasite.

I always thought of it more as a force rather than a creature
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evil_eye
Kinda similar to Kalameet's eye, maybe some other non-dragon creature developed that power as well

We killed Kalameet, the dark beast attacked Astora, the dark beast was killed in Astora, Kalameet died in what was left of Oolacile, calamity ring is Kalameet's eye, the evil ring contains the dark beast soul.

But suddenly, if you consider the possibility of Oolacile being a province of Astora, you can make a claim that the Dark Eye Ring is the Ring of Calamity.

The problem there is that the two rings are completely different from each other and they don't look like the other well.
