I have soul arrows and a cat. and a +5 flame and a pyro spell, but neather spell will show up in the select thingo on the lower left. I had to level int to use spell and cat. but no go. Can anyone please advise?

A wanderer should start with 1 attunement slot, so did you actually attune one of your spells to that slot? In order to use a spell you need to 1) fulfil the stat requirements, 2) equip a catalyst or pyromancer hand and 3) attune one or more spells in your attunement slots.
