    Title.

So what decks do you guys run, what's your favorite color, and so on.

I just put together a blue/black Mill (Enemy puts their Library straight into their Graveyard) deck that can instantly win any game; I have Crumbling Sanctuary (if someone takes damage, they Mill a card) and a Mage that I pay 1/Blk/Bl they take damage every time they Mill XD

Couple that with counterspells that mill, creatures that mill, and even Jayce himself, It's gonna be awesome big grin

*Disclaimer; my friends play with nothing off limits, I've already lost to three insta-wins like this, so it's all good. I'm not a Tourney Player.

I used to, but then I burned them all. I used to use a blue deck to play mind games and manipulate others. I used to have fun back then.

You guys should pick it up again, they've added a lot of cool mechanics to the new set:

Evolve: Whenever a bigger creature comes out, this creature gets +1/+1.
Extort: If you play a spell, pay an additional Wht/Blk Mana to cause ALL opponents to lose 1 life, you gain that much life.
Bloodrush: Discard this card from your hand, add it's power, toughness, and special abilities (Haste/First Strike/Trample/etc) to target attacking card until end of turn.
Scavenge: Exile this card from your graveyard, add it's power and toughness to target creature permanently.
Battalion: If this card and two more cards attack, deal 1 damage to target creature/target creature can't block/gains First Strike/ Gains +0/+1 and Vigilance until end of turn.

And the next set being added is supposedly Greek Mythology, so that'll be fun.

You need to insta win for less mana. If you can't combo out and win on turn 1 or 2 don't even bother playing no rules casual magic.

The best way to do this is probably storm, with nothing off limits and serum powder you can push the statistical odds of winning on turn one up to ~70%

I reread the cards; the one that does damage requires they go into the graveyard, and the other one sends them out of the game instead. While it's always nice to double the Mill, it's just not the same :/

I still play! My main is a Black/Red Beatdown and I have a pure Red Burn deck I'm working on as well. Been playing for years but I stopped around Mists of Kamigawa and just recently picked it up again.

Edit: I know Carphil, Rosie and Emergence also play, if only online(hoping that mentioning their name would get them to post )

I play it every now and then. Haven't been playing for a while though. I mostly play casual EDH nowadays. I don't have that many 60 card decks anymore. I think I still have at least one that's in a playable condition.

Do you use a lot of Unleash? I frankly don't see a point to that mechanic, but am hoping to get shown the light, so to speak.

When I play my Red/Black beatdown, yes. I have 4 copies of any good cards(low cost, high power) and the point of beatdown is to hit as hard as possible, as fast as you can, and as often as you can. So, unleashing a 1/1 and making it a 2/2 is great and I don't have to worry about blocking. Even better if I play a 3(converted) cost 4/3 with haste and unleash it to a 5/4.

Edit: Oh, and I also have a creature that takes advantage of unleash, it gives every creature that's unleashed an extra +1/0 and haste

Meh, I have the Rakdos Witch Lady who gives everyone haste who has a +1/+1 Counter. Just don't see the appeal in the mechanic. Sure you hit harder, but leave yourself open to counterattack so badly.... Especially against any good white deck.

Not that I'm dissing you or your playstyle, it's just not mine silly

My Simic Deck is rather ludicrous, though. 4x Forced Adaptations (+1/+1 every turn), Ivy Lane Denizen (Green Monster came out? +1/+1 on any creature of my choice), Renegade Krasis (Whenever it Evolves, put a +1/+1 counter on all creatures that already have one), Gyre Sage (Evolving Mana Dork that gives me 1G for every +1/+1 counter on it), and Ooze Flux (Remove X +1/+1 Counters off of any combination of creatures I control; put an X/X Green Slime creature into play).

I can easily pump out 6-7 9/9s on any given turn.

Yeah, I'm not saying that the mechanic isn't flawed, but I like playing beatdown and in beatdown, minor(ish) drawbacks like that don't matter much, it's an acceptable tradeoff for more power. Plus you don't need to unleash. Another good thing about beatdown is that it doesn't have a particular strategy, you don't need a specific combination of cards to win as most cards stand alone very well.

My favorite color combo is red white

I have a r/w battle cry (its built around the mechanic), a u/w ally (easily my best modern), and a g/b saproling edh, which is a terror when it gets going.

we generally don't use infinite combos, turn 1 wins arn't really fun for any of us (and we're more than capable of doing them, so we have nothing to prove.) The exception is fnm, where there are prizes/official standings ect.

So I did some digging into some cards, and I'm definitely liking the Simic more and more; Big Creatures? Check. Counterspell for Big Creature? Check. Counterspell for more Mana? Check.

Shamblesharks may replace Metathran Elites as my favorite card ever XD

    So questions for those wiser than I;

    1) If I have a Ring of Klonoa (Equipped Creature gains Trample. If that creature is Green, it gains +1/+1 at the beginning of your turn) and put it on a Shambleshark (Gold Creature, is a Blue/Green card), does it gain the +1/+1? Or does it have to be PURE green?

    2) Does the "Only four cards of any card, except Land" rule apply to special lands like Guildgates, Spawning Pool, or Simic Growth Chamber?

edit: how rude of me, good luck Tinypantha big grin

I'll try to answer them but any vets should correct me if I'm wrong:

    1) As long as it says Green, and not shared, I don't think it applies to gold or even multicolour cards. If it says shares the same colour I don't quite know(like I'm not sure if black/reds can block blacks with intimidate).

2)It says Land, not Basic Land, so special lands aren't exempt. Neither are cards with the effect that treats it as a land.

I asked some people on a different site, and they said that if Green is used in it's mana cost, it's considered a Green Card for those purposes.

Niether site is an actual Magic site though, so it's still up in the air silly

Color identity is determined by mana symbols. If green is in the mana cost of the spell, the spell is green, regaudless of other colors.

    Sweet.

Sorry for the bump, but tomorrow I go to a specialist card shop planning on trading some cards in and buying some new ones.

Going to be making a Cinder B-R Elemental deck, or as I like to call it The Ghostrider Deck.
