you begin in the southern undead asylum. you start with a cut-scene of Oscar throwing a key down too you and you escaping. down the long corridors you can hear whispering. then you get to a point where you can see a bit of oscar. he is talking to the chosen undead, when he makes the chosen undead leave he turns around and hits the wall, it was an illusion. he then recreates the wall and says "oh chosen undead i have brought you here as plan B. the primordial serpents have need of thee and you must go and (insert mission here because i am 16 and in English not 30 and have a PHD in storytelling). throughout the game Oscar actually helps you until you get to the part where you go back to the southern undead asylum. you see oscar die, your only ally, your only semblance of a friend. all he leaves you is a key, a key to the painted world, from there you are on the otherside of the bridge and you make your way to a mirror. at this mirror you can see how your fate is tied to that of the chosen undead and you must do what you can to help him, you go on and do your task, hoping he can do his (or hers) and just before you get to the final boss you get invaded by oscar and he says "you where never meant to sympethise with him" and he goes aggro. you then must kill oscar to carry on and make your choice at the end of the game.

How I want it to start:
You black out in a tunnel then respawn on some island with no clothes on
Begin journey

I want you to start on a small linear dungeon, not knowing you are undead, and halfway you meet someone that act´s like a companion. S/he backstabs you later. You find yourself in a bonfire high above the dungeon.

I think, given some speculation, that Dark Souls II could start like this:
A small opening cutscene begins depicting a group of men around a camp. They are on patrol, some resting, some chatting, and others doing whatnot. Eventually, one man comes gesturing hastily towards a road; all the other men take up arms and you see their mysterious masks. Cutscene transition into your character running away around a road, you take your last look behind you, seeing no enemy, before the cutscene ends and the game begins.
For the tutorial level, your character is equipped rather poorly and this portion of the game is used to introduce newbies and pros to the game, hence a tutorial level. You pass the level collecting gear off the corpse of your (half-deceased) bretheren, who will attack you, since they are hollow. The level really looks like a type of forest riddled with bodies.
Eventually, after some time, you get ambushed by the men, who proceed to pelt you will Lloyd's talismans, weakening you. You're now forced into an endless-wave of fights until you die, where you will be taken captive after overhearing a small line: "Take this thing to the Asylum! Dispose of it.". Cutscene skip to you being captive on the road when of all a sudden, a Dragon attacks and kills everyone off while throwing everyone off the road. Due to the fact you're undead, it doesn't really matter. Conveniently, this happens in the exact same area the game takes place.
Your journey begins now. Just like every other game, you have no idea what you're suppose to be doing.

I predict Dark Souls II will begin with, a logo for one of the companies associated with it
Raecor, that'd be an interesting twist

Only thing I think, is it should begin with you not being dead yet. the tutorial should have at the end you dying. Either to the boss of the level (you only get one shot at it like demons) or to some circumstance after the fight to make you undead.
That would be fun, and frankly starting like that gives them a wider base for throwing in some more story into the mix, which souls needs a bit really

Since this has just pretty much become a "how you want Dark Souls II to start" thread I'll pitch in.
You're on a boat going back to _______ from a long journey away from home. You're vessel is roughly a 10 miles from shore as you see the horizon and your homeland. Then suddenly a drake swoops down smashing the mast. Since it's a small sailing boat, the craft flips over, with you plummeting into the water. As you try to regain yourself, you notice that drakes have started to surround you, circling like vultures. It looks like the end, until a large dragon breaks through the pack of drakes, sending them hurdling towards the sea. The dragon looks at you and flies away. You awaken on a beach at nighttime and go from there.
Did I do good, mommy?
