Well before we start discussing the build, we need to talk the level, so get voting guys! Ideally I want a low level build, as my experience with Sl 120 is that basically everyone can fast roll, and I really want to feel more limited/realistic/restrained if you know what I mean

Regardless of level I'll be going for a DEX/maybeINT build, with Scythe, daggers, claws, and katanas being my weapons of choice

I'm going to say SL 80. It's my favourite SL choice. It is not limited to elementals/low HP like the lower SL 55, but you still have to make sacrifices you normally wouldn't have to make in things like SL 100/120.

    Go with SL 80.

Yeah I've heard at Sl 55 basically everyone uses magic weapons/pine resins purely because the damage isso high at that level.. 80 sounds more appealing now

SL 55 is very limited as its levels mean you need to be either more focused on three or four stats rather than more evened out like others, whereas SL 100 will allow you to focus on your wanted stats, then invest the remainder in other things.

SL 80 makes you focus more on things like the SL 55, but also gives you some leniency for other things, while not giving you the full advantage of being able to invest and an entirely extra stat like SL 100 can.

SL55 is great because it forces you to make choices. You can't have everything, not even close. You can make a scaling build, but you gotta give up some end and vit. you could just use elemental weapons, but then your damage is lacking. You could buff say with 30 faith, but you're buffing a base requirement weapon, there simply isn't room to scale.

    An example 55 http://mmdks.com/2jwc

I think that SL80 is probably your best option, but SL55 can also be fun if you want even greater restriction. I would recommend 80 because it will allow you to make pretty much any build you want, but will still restrict how powerful it can potentially become. also, at this level you should see more fat rolls, and fewer elemental weapons.

    Couldn't vote.

You said you prefer lower soul level pvp, but you're asking whats more rewarding.

Personally, lower levels are pretty much all elementals and pretty boring imo. BUT, they can be fun when neither you or your opponent are using elementals.

I say 120 is where most of the pvp players are. Some people say the lower levels make you choose, and while I agree to an extent, the diminishing returns in Dark Souls are pretty well inline for that soul level, and up to about 150 if you ask me.

Soul level 80 will be dead as hell. Its an odd number. You might feel good about the build, but you also might not find a lot of action unless you host in the forest...in which case you'd probably be fighting a lot of 50s.

So after writing this, I guess I'll vote for 150+

While I agree that the most PvP action is around 120-150, the problem I have with it is that.. well everything is maxed out, everyone always has a couple of 40's and max scaling.

Currently I'm stuck between 55&80.. hrm.. Anyone have an example of an 80 build?

SL80 large club (complete with DmB and WoG) http://mmdks.com/2k2f

It makes absurdly short work of players tackling the lord soul and DLC areas

Hrm... I can't help but notice all these builds have Wolf ring, favour and protection, and mask of the mother... This is exactly why I leant away from SL 120 because everyone used the same stuff..

    Hmmm

Well it's tough to get away from certain things because they're just so good. MoM is a great piece of armor because it's low weight and special HP boost. FaP and Wolf's are kind of the pvp defaults, because more health/stam/equip and poise is just useful for pretty much any build.

    http://mmdks.com/2k3w

You can move spells around, use force if your invading an area with cliffs, bridges and such. Magic Barrier is there to help counteract the Mdef loss from wearing the Crown to make your pyromancy hurt more. And while it has no FaP or Wolfs it does have a pair of popular rings, however flipping about with 56 poise makes you are tough target. Great Scythe because you said you like dex weapons, though you could use the Uchi or a BSS if you wanted.

    Hmmm

Go sl 12 -20 and enjoy invading in more beginning areas. Even have f.e. a lightning SS, but also a SS +10 (about the same QR as Drake Sword), SS +5, etc. for newer players.

PVP at this level is so much fun and you can encounter others with original builds too. And you have the occasional challenge of encountering f.e. SL 50 players.

    Good luck! tongue

Now THIS looks much more up my street. I'll fiddle around with the armour a bit, because I like to wear full sets of armour and not use a shield, but the profile is more or less what I like..

I'm going for SL 80 then. Would it be possible to downscale the VIT /END and upscale the DEX on the build you listed?

    How would this work?

    http://mmdks.com/2klm

I would swap out the spells and the chaos blade for the great scythe/dagger/katana

    Does this seem plausible?

If you really want to wear that armor and not use a shield it'll work just fine. Really that's whats so great about souls, you can do whatever you want.

I've found myself perfectly capable without dodging, yeah, I two hand often.

Do you think the stats themselves are good and don't need tweaking? Is there a better catalyst perhaps?

@lagstab, the most popular level is 120, my personal experience is that at 120 everyone fast rolls and uses whatever they like, 80 is more... unique in that you don't get cookie cutter uses of things

for SL 80 I try to have at least 25 Vit luckily you can get 30 pretty easy shuffling points around like so.

Started working on this build, my current biggest problem is I can't find any decent weapon for the build while I don't have a katana (don't want to kill the merchant)

Any tips for a high damage low level weapon? currently using +5 Mail breaker which takes a good 10 hits to destroy an ent T_T
