    the sorcerer class that was being played shot a giant fireball out of his catalyst ... is pyromancy no more? have they merged back or is that a special catalyst?? also THAT BADA$$ SLASHY BLADE OF MAGIC

    hard to say since it was just a demo with pre-made characters.  

    I dont think its likely that they completely ignore previous lore, but then again, its a whole new setting on the opposite side of the world from lordran, so it may have its very own lore with little to no connection with DS1

    It appears that they have done away with the pyro glove. And brought back ninja-flipping.

    being that its just a demo, they may have temporarily combined them for the sake of smooth game play.  If they do indeed decide to combine them, I'm sure there will be appropriate lore explain the change.

    Pyromancies also had a relation to intelligence in DkS, so it is likely that they will merge.

    If you read the description of the Izalith Catalyst, it states something about being used for sorceries before the witches fully submitted to pyromancy.

    I was wondering this today actually as I got it from Lost Izalith and wondered why a Daughter of Chaos would drop one.

    Prequel all the way.

    Definitely makes sense with the whole catalyst description...

    No reason to assume they just temporarily combined them for smooth gameplay in my opinion. I have always been confused why pyromancies were separate from sorceries as they both had relations to intelligence. I kind of hope they combine the two and just make pyromancy a part of intelligence/magic builds. I only worry about there being less of both cast types since they would rely on the same stat.

    If the rumors are true about a prequel then yes the fireball is almost certainly the lost fire sorcery's. Pyromancy was created from fire sorcery's being warped by chaos so this would mean pyromancys are no more (is it just me or did the catalyst used for that spell look like the Isilith catalyst?). Perhaps you cannot cast soul and fire sorcery's from the same catalyst and perhaps you can.

     Well besides the minor damage scaling from the psychical attack of the glove, Pyro and INT didn't have anything to do with each other, from a lore point of view I never got the impression that they were related either, but I could be wrong.

    Read the isilith and the firsesage catalyst descriptions. They show that fire sorcery used to exist but were lost after the flame of chaos and that pyromancy was created instead. There may be more lore somewhere too but i cant remember.

    1.  Fire sorcery does not necessarily mean no pyros, but it hurts the odds of pyros
    2.  Fire sorcery does not necessarily implicate a prequel; if the setting involves influences outside of Lordran the sorcery might not have been so "lost", or it may have been rediscovered!  Perhaps the flames of chaos are instead part of the "enemy only" club or otherwise function differently.

    Pyros are a very interesting and important concept in DS and I don't think we'll lose the concept, even if we lose pyros.  The games have consistently presented options that do not scale with stats, and they have been consistently inferior to stat-scaled options while still being viable (allowing more valid tradeoffs to exist).  I don't think From will dump that concept, even if they don't want to tie it to fire spells again.

    What if fire sorcery can only be cast with izalith/demon catalysts? the one in the demo kinda looked like one, only shorter
