Well Miyazaki has stated that he has a very reduced role in this game, and so if anything this will be a test for Shibuya to see if he will follow in Miyazaki's footsteps or make a name for himself. Either way I'm excited, as always.

Time is screwed up in the Dark Souls universe.Wilkinson3424 wrote:Dark souls 2 happens at least 1000 years before dark souls 1, how would your body appear :p

And this point is one of the most invalid as to suggest it's a prequel. Anything with dating by means of current lore cannot be used since:Wilkinson3424 wrote:Fire Sorcery.
Prequel.
And it might be a marketing tactic... Miyazaki is offering money for the pendant troll again so people become addicted to the game again because wants more than just dark souls die-hards to buy Dark Souls 2.
A. Time is convoluted
B. Lore can be changed to fit the grand scheme of things
C. Dark magic
Dark magic wasn't in the game before you go back in time, and honestly I wished that Black Flame would have been a sorcery like Acid Surge, except with less damaging fire.
Remember, Souls' always throws tricks into the lore that people don't notice until years later. So no assumptions can be made about chronological order just yet.
No offense meant to you Wilkinson.

Sorry Panda, but using pyro castings with a catalyst does indeed suggest a prequel. Its definitely NOT one of the most invalid points by far.
The description of the Izalith Catalyst is pretty straightforward.
Sure, lore can be twisted how we interpret because of the "gaps", but some things are pretty black and white.
Using pyro with a catalyst does in fact suggest prequel. It doesn't necessarily make it so, but it DEFINITELY suggests it.
As a matter of fact, it's one of the main points it is a prequel imo. It fits perfectly.

Not necessarily though Animaal. The biggest counterargument is not the time is convoluted, but that the game takes place a world apart. We don't know the extent of this "distance," but I can assure you that it has been stressed a number of times to not take place in the same location. Shibuya mentions time but seems to stress geography as well.

I get that, I'm just saying it holds a lot of weight.
Also, it doesn't really matter where the game takes place, it all began with Nito, Daughters of Chaos, etcetcetcetcetcetcetc.
The lore will be similar and tie into Dark Souls one way or another. If it was called Dead Souls then.....

Oh yeah, I completely agree with a lore continuation of sorts. It may not be chronological, but there definitely going to be some loose ends tied...and then untied because of new stuff.

I find it strange how all the lords decided to set up their empires in roughly the same place. IE lordran. I think perhaps there are other hero's who defeated the dragons in other parts of the world and perhaps we will meet them.
Also i actually wouldnt be surprised if there is still a mystery involving the pendant to discover. No point in looking of course but if someone found it by accident would be pretty cool. Admittedly it is more likely to be a troll.

And actually, it's not accustomed to Souls', but I want a part where it really hits you hard. Emotions except loneliness don't really show, some may say that's better, but I want a real tear jerking or rage inducing moment. The best part of a video game is fighting for something you want, so I think you should have a straightforward goal to begin with. Having a passionate drive (ludicrous expectations), and at some point ultimately losing all hope in achieving that goal (falling into despair), then rising to achieve and win against all odds (transcend limitations).

Lore was quite enough to make me cry, but if the Dialogue for the Artorias fight was put in I would die from lack of water.

I think they should put it in again and that it SHOULD do something this time... Even if they say it doesn't, can you really trust their word any more? XD
I like the original idea, though I think it should be something like an NPC through the entire game and you have a choice to give him the pendant or something... If you do, he goes insane trying to find out what it does later and becomes hostile, then your original idea .
