In DA, Ferrystones cost 2,000 in shiny gold, you get I believe, five, maybe more Port Crystals and after NG+, you can buy them to have up to nine for 200,000 in omfg gold each (but by NG+ money is something you'll have tons of). Also, Gran Soren and Cassasrdis both have permanent Port Crystal, that you can warp to anytime.

Needless to say that this makes travelling MUCH faster.

Well, now I can say I'm selling my old disc for Dark Arisen.

Sorry Plastic, I never played the vanilla, because I knew that Capcom will release a lot of trash DLCs for it and will eventually make a bundle. That being Dark Arisen. The wiki is mostly changed to DA info too.
To be frank, I'm not even sure you will get this one Port Crystal, not to mention where.

In DA, they are in Everfall, second part of Witchwood, Lair of the Dragonforged, in Bluemoon Tower and in Shadow Fort.

I know you get at least one port crystal. The wiki says it's in the Blue Moon Tower, which I haven't been anywhere near yet. I'm just trying to figure out if it's part of the main quest and I should wait until that part of it to go over there or if I should just do it now and go get it to make my exploring easier.

In the vanilla game (DD) the ferry stones are actually only 10,000g, but you have to do a little work to get them at that price. It's worth it though. It's definitely still a nice chunk of gold, but once you start getting into the higher paying quests it's not that big a deal. I have like 20 of them right now because I buy 2 or 3 every time I go back to Gran Soren.

Oh I was in the Bluemoon Tower very early.

Pawn: "Look Arisen! I wonder what the tower in the distance is."
    Arisen: "Herpderp, let's go see!"

Got roflstomped by the bandits on the way like a hundred times.

Lots of neat treasuers on the way there and in the tower itself. Also met my first Golem there and the fight was absolutely EPIC. I returned later to farm the chests for valuable gear and to make cash. The bandits tere are the most dangerous enemy in the game (non-DLC), so I usually used them to see how my pawn handles her inclinations and to teach her what to do.

If the Port Crystal is there, then you will be ble to get it as a part of the quest Griffin's Bane. It's story related, can't miss it. However that is quite late in the game, where you're more likely to have already completed around 90% of the content already. Way to go Capcom.

Cool, well I'm going to go check it out then. I have an opened quest right now where I need to be killing golems anyway, and I've only found one so far. I fought it as a sorcerer too, which wasn't much fun. Had to rely on my pawns almost entirely. I just switched out to an assassin for my last 10 levels before I hit where I want to be for my MK though, so it shouldn't be too too much of a problem I wouldn't think.

I'm a little reluctant to try for the port crystal whether it's going to be there without the quest having been activated or not. When I first played Fallout 3 I was out exploring maybe 10 hours in and I stumbled onto one of the vaults, which happened to be heavily driven by the main quest, and when I went inside it dragged me into that portion of the main quest and I couldn't get out of it, and in doing so it bypassed probably 15 hours of main quest elements. Since then I've always been a bit overly careful of accidentally doing things like that. I'm not sure if this game would work that way or not but most of the time in games like these if I even get a hint of main quest elements that haven't been activated yet I leave. It's pretty shoddy game design that something like that could happen at all if you ask me. I guess nobody ever accuses Bethesda of being good designers anyway though right?

I just looked it up, and I'm actually at the point in the main quest where you go to Blue Moon Tower and get the port crystal as a reward. I just hadn't activated the quest yet because I took off to go do side quests as soon as I got to the point where I'd be taking quests from the duke's adviser. It's actually not terribly far into the main quest in relation to the entirety of the main quest line. I'd say it's about halfway through. The wiki breaks it down into 7 stages, 8 including post-game stuff that's related to it, and the quest where you get the port crystal is part of stage 4. The last thing I did that was main quest related was meet the Duke. It becomes available right after that.

I'm doing 10ish levels as an assassin for some attack damage and stamina before I go MK, and it's really fun. I just fought the golem at the tomb of the unknown traveler, and it was crazy how much more effective I was against it than I was as a sorcerer. It really was almost entirely immune to my magics.

Don't worry. The further area of the Bluemoon Tower is locked and you can't get there unless you have the quest active.
However I must warn you that you will face the Griffin once before going to the Bluemoon Tower and if you're strong enough to kill it in this spot, the rest of the quest will get cancelled, your trip to Bluemoon Tower included, so make sure you spare the Griffin at first. Sorry for the spoiler, but I don't know if you'll be able to get the Port Crystal if you'll manage to kill it in the first encounter and I'd hate to see you being unable to obtain it.

I explored the WHOLE map as soon as I got into Gran Soren. The only spoiler I ran into, was meeting Dragonforged before the quest, which shocked me and I had no idea what to do. Nothing else. Much better than Bethesda games, right? happy

Golem fights can get pretty epic. However they are completely immune to Magic and there's a special kind of Golem that requires you to use a bow to kill it...or have a VERY good Strider/Ranger pawn.

Don't wory bout stats. Unless you go pure Magic, which is Mage for the first 10 levels and Sorcerer for the other 190, or pure physical, which is Fighter the first ten and Assassin the rest 190, you'll end up as hybrid.
I saw vids of people with pures and their damage is insane. I played like you. I actually played in a way that I picked a class and maxed it out and then moved to another. At level 100-ish I had every class maxed out and since my pawn is a girl, I decided to make her a support Mage and focus on damage dealing myself, by becoming Assassin. I lack a few hundred damage points to be like pure Assassin, but I still obliterate everything with ease, so you really shouldn't worry about stats at all and just enjoy the class you like the most.

    Pro tip:
Max level is 200, however the stats increase you get upon leveling up is dramatically reduced as soon as you reach level 100, so if you plan to make a particular build, like Sorcerer, or Fighter, you should focus on leveling up the stats up to level 100 and then do whatever you want. I'm just trying to warn you that you can't rely on the last 100 levels to turn your Warrior into a Mage.

I think 100 is probably a realistic goal. Once I do what there is to do post-game I doubt I'll stick around, and unless there's extra content in new game + I can't see myself doing. I'm not much of a new game + kinda guy. I have a lot more fun creating new builds then running through games with the same ones over and over.

I sorta made a build for this one, but it happened partially naturally, because I was just experimenting with vocations before I knew the stat growths worked the way they do, and once I discovered the stat growths I decided to use what I'd already done and work it into an MK. So far I've done fighter to level 20ish, I'm not entirely sure what level I was when I switched, then I did warrior to level 35, sorcerer to level 50, and now I'm doing assassin to level 60/65 depending on how I'm feeling about it, then I plan to move to MK until I finish with the character. I figure that'll give me a nice mix of defenses, with decent stamina and HP, and good enough damage with my melee and magic.

NG+ only has a handful of new quests which aren't worth the trouble and the game itself doesn't raise it's difficulty like Souls games do.

Even though the game has multiple endings, it has no replay value. Try choosing an obviously non canon ending and find out what I mean for yourself.

The only reason to go to NG+ is to have a direct warp access to Ur-Dragon from Cassardis and perhaps to go to BBI (if you have DA) without the fear of any story spoilers.

Freaking love this game.  Great implementation of classes IMO and the arcade style along w/ the scope of enemies is just awesome.  Going through my first run right now, started out as an archer, went to mage, then magic archer, now I'm trying out an assassin and will move to a sorcerer before finishing out the last 100 levels as a magic archer.  My pawn is a pure mage, acting as support (mage) or for pure damage output (sorcerer).  Not a super 'skillful' game, but fun nonetheless.

It's SOOOOOOO lame that round loot rolls. I've been trying to farm skeleton knights for hard bones for the last hour and I finally just got a drop up on this sloping cliff, and when I tried to pick it up one of my pawns got in my way and I talked to them instead, then tried again and just missed it as it rolled off the cliff and into a river, where I haven't been able to find it. Capcom is just cruel.

At this point I'd be satisfied with just one and I'll frickin make 10 forgeries of it instead of farming.

Just a quick question for those who has played the game (And the DLC.)
For Mystick Knights. What is the best Enchanter? I've used Abyssal Trance a while, but the DLC has A LOT of dark enemies so i was thinking to switching to something Holy. Suggestions?

    Pre-Dragon = Fire
    Post-Dragon = Holy
BBI first run = Holy / Lightning
BBI after first run = Holy / Lightning / Ice / Fire (there's a LOT of Dragonkin)

Dark is absolutely useless. I know only two enemies weak to Dark and that's The Dragon and Dark Bishop boss in BBI. Both are pushovers, so there's no need to buff at all.

I usually either jump on anything and spam Thousand Kisses, or use Tenfold/Fivefold Flurry.

Abyssal Anguish makes your weapon longer and raises it's knockback effect, but it's useless if you cling on something, which is the way to fight most enemies in Dragon's Dogma a MK. That or spamming Great Cannon. Still, most enemies are resistant to Dark.

Two minutes? More like 15 seconds. silly

Only good thing about it can be the fact that it makes it easier for you to interrupt Daimons annoying spells, but you won't get any damage increase from it for enemies like him. You'd have to get the weapon buffed by your Mage for that.
