They always seem to run towards you instead of away when you surprise em like that don't they?
I was driving home from work one night when I used to work security at a hotel near here. I was the first shift night guy, so I was usually on from 6 to anytime between midnight and 1 or 2, depending on how many people were in the hotel and when the second shift guy got there, and the road I used to take to get home was a bit of a back road on top of it, so both that combined with the time I was usually driving home almost always meant that I'd be the only car on the road the whole drive. It was about a 25 mile drive, and it'd be late, and usually I'd be tired so I used to pop in some nice mellow music, like Radiohead or something, and just chill out and enjoy the drive and be in my own little world out on the road. So I was doing that this night, cruising at around 65ish I'd think, kinda zoning out, at least as much as you safely can behind the wheel, just totally serene and enjoying my music, and suddenly there was a crazy loud bang against my drivers side door, a bright flash of light, and there was a huge furry head pressed against my window. Scared the crap out of me. Almost literally. I couldn't have been more unsuspecting that something like that was about to happen. Totally swerved and almost drove off the road. I guess I spooked a big buck that had been far enough off the shoulder that I hadn't seen it when I was coming up on it, and it took off running towards my car and hit just in time to connect right with my sideview mirror, twisting it into the window, and somehow catching the light from my headlights, throwing a bright reflection in my face, then plastering it's own head against the window, before spinning itself around in a 180, then running back into the woods. Such a crazy experience. I really nearly pooped my pants.
