Examining Dark Souls Characters through their item descriptions

I was hoping to share this article with you all, as well as facilitate some discussion on the importance of Armor descriptions within Dark Souls. 

This article discusses Oscar of Astora as well as Solaire in terms of what can be gleaned from the descriptions given by the Elite Knight set as well as the Iron & Sun set.

Feel free to read and share your thoughts.

Welcome to the community!  Thanks for sharing the article, the more angles on the lore the better. The thread linked above is an NPC analysis thread. It's gone a bit quiet now that the game has been out but your insights will help. In a game where nothing is spelled out, the work is never done. And don't mind the post above. The overwhelming majority of posters in this commnity use welcoming words and actual fully formed sentences as opposed to singular rude links.

Also an easy way to post a link that someone can click on is to go to the bar at the top of the text box. Once you do that click what looks like a chain with a green plus sign under it (it's right by the youtube button). Thanks for the article, was a interesting read I liked the fact you focused on explaining how individual items help form the overall picture of the past of dark souls, and what led to certain events and characters to come to lordran.

I have been fascinated with Dark Souls lore since the second I started the game. Even now, after countless playthroughs, I find that there is always something new to uncover.

I chose to look at item descriptions - specifically the armor sets - because I find that it is the most often overlooked. The amount of information gleaned from armor is mind-blowing.

What other armor sets do you all find share the most insight into the various characters in Dark Souls - I am thinking of featuring the Moonlight Set next.

I think doing an assessment of characters looking at stuff like moonlight set and dingy set etc for characters who are generally overlooked in the lore would be the most interesting to read. Gwyndolin would be a good addition to the material you've already written I reckon

I'm currently working on a second volume of Armor Descriptions and wanted to ask you all what sets/armor pieces you would like to see featured.

Good article, item descriptions definitely do add a lot to the lore. Lots of really cool pieces of information tucked away here and there.

Maybe choose a couple of the more rare sets or pieces?

Just gonna throw it out there: Painting Guardian Set.

 Great idea!

Moonlight Set and Dingy will be the next two featured. I think that there is a lot to be said about both sets as well as the characters that wear them.

Any little lore tidbits you all might want to share would be great - but otherwise I'm going to get cranking on a post now.
