Re: Forging a Hero - Teaser Trailer
I really hope they don't bring crafting into this series, so all that blacksmithing workshop stuff with the tagline implying some kind of emphasis on customization makes me nervous.

Re: Forging a Hero - Teaser Trailer
I think that if they add a more in depth crafting system that the games' replay value will increase. It'll add that much more stuff to do. I'd like to regain at least half the materials put into a +15 weapon if I want to downgrade it to +10. And if they add a clothes dyeing system that could mean more personal experiences / trolling trolololololol.

A quote of mine from another thread because I'm too lazy to retype it out after being awake all night:mr_no_face wrote:I think that if they add a more in depth crafting system that the games' replay value will increase. Reaperfan wrote:I'm not sure it fits thematically with the sense of isolation the Souls games try to provide. I hate bringing these two games up at the same time, but it's a great example of what I mean in that this is the fundamental difference between Skyrim and Dark Souls. In Skyrim, the world is your world. You can do whatever you want and be whoever you want to be. The world around you waits for your input and shapes itself accordingly.
In Dark Souls however, the world is not your world. It is not there to serve the player's whims, it is there to oppress you. In Dark Souls, you are at Lordran's mercy, taking only what it gives you as a way to get by and your actions are primarily motivated by the chosen undead simply wanting to get the hell out of there and make it all end.
I'm personally against the idea of detailed interaction, because it takes away from this overarching theme of oppression. Not to say a sense of control over the world is bad, as it's done to great effect in games like Skyrim or even things like Minecraft. But so far from what I've experienced in all my years of playing Demon's and Dark Souls, I can't believe "control" is the kind of fantasy fulfillment these games have been trying to offer. Give me a world I have too much control over, and it stops feeling like a Souls game to me.

Re: Forging a Hero - Teaser Trailer
I think that this teaser is meant to promote an upcoming event in which they will showcase a real replica of the armor used in the Dks2 trailers etc.
Maybe DkS 2 will be featured in the next episode of "Man at arms"?

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this trailer. I think it's smart on From's part to not play their hand just quite yet and show fans everything there is to gameplay, locations, and potential lore in DS2 - but I am not crazy about the live action route.

Re: Forging a Hero - Teaser Trailer
It reminded me of those guys who were trying to do(might still be) a live action Dark Souls movie project. Maybe Namco Bandai got them a little budget to do a short promo or something. I remember they had that dude who made sculptures involved before, giving them away as prises to promote the game.

Re: Forging a Hero - Teaser Trailer
I think others beat me to it. The live action and half reveal of the replica armor from the game makes me think that they're teasing a promotional event. So they're promoting a promotion that's not the game. I guess that's the stuff that can happen with a AAA title.

Re: Forging a Hero - Teaser Trailer
Well I guess namco are going out their way to prove that they are putting a lot of money behind DkSII- can't be a bad thing if I'm honest.
I guess they might be using the live action just so that FROM don't need to create anything extra for trailers and can work on the game more.. I guess?
If they did some kind of live action thing properly though- it would either turn out, cringe, terrible, good in a hilariously bad way or all of the above.. I can't see it ending well if I'm honest.

If you freeze frame at the opening shot with the anvil, it totally looks like his workshop.AnCapaillMor wrote:Ooohhh a lock and load episode with R Lee emry doing Souls weapons.Shamanix wrote:Maybe DkS 2 will be featured in the next episode of "Man at arms"?

Re: Forging a Hero - Teaser Trailer
I'm a big fan of crafting weapons. If done right it adds depth to the game and give it more of a personal feel. If done wrong it can be frustrating though. While I'm as impatient as anyone, I like that they are not rushing this game and are attempting to get all the details right. as he said, he doesn't want to make DS8. He wants to make a game that will last through the ages. Its a monumental task, but From has earned the benefit of the doubt IMO.

Re: Forging a Hero - Teaser Trailer
Huh, people taking more away from this teaser than what I think is there. Speculating about crafting haha. All I see is cool blacksmithing and rl replicas of DS2 gear. Further proof how invested Namco is in this sequel. Nice to get something but it's such a small morsel.

Re: Forging a Hero - Teaser Trailer
Crafting would be very nice.We dont know for sure but there will be atleast more upgrade paths to choose from.Maybe we will be able craft our own Demon weapons but every weapon has its own requirements,so special weapons would be alot more rare.

Re: Forging a Hero - Teaser Trailer
It seems like it is just for advertising, they did the behind the scenes for the video. They just wanted to show off the armor for the main character in game and what it would look like in real life.

To me it sounds like they're setting up for some live action advert/minishow/series thing lol.
It would be cool if that happened

I like the individual pieces but would like to see the full thing in better light.
Also, why is he awkwardly fighting a Ring Wraith at the end?

That's probably because real armor can often look really silly.
