Kaathe and warping to the abyss

Hmm. My sl50 kilt the 4 kings then talked to Kaathe to place the LV, with intentions of coming back to join the DW cov after I opened the shortcut to BOC. Well, I go to warp to the abyss, it's not in the choices.   It oh.   Memory may be wrong but I believe I ran by Frampt the other day and he muttered something about not being the chosen one, then he disappeared.  I thought all I had to do was talk to Kaathe and place the LV with him, then I could warp back there at anytime to feed Lord Souls.  
Can I jump into the abyss to see DK?  Or was that encounter with Frampt fatal to my plan?

Did you save at the Abyss bonfire?  I believe you can only warp to bonfires you have saved at.

If I recall correctly, the order you needed to do it in is 
1. Kill 4kings and talk to Kaathe   (do NOT talk to Frampt ANY TIME before this)
2. use him to go to where you place the lord vessel BUT dont place it. Use a homeward bone to escape to a bonfire.
3. Warp back to Firelink shrine and talk to Frampt. Use him to take you to the lord vessel and place it.
4. Now you can talk to frampt and Kaathe and neither of them will disappear. You can still join the Dark Wraithes with Kaathe and you can still feed things to Frampt.

 Hmmm, I may have just lit bf, talked th DK, placed LV, then warped to Firelink, can't remember, now. So I may just have to speed run back to the abyss?

This is embarrassing, 3 attempts to get back there, lol. Did not even light the bonfire, much less sit down.  This issue is resolved. Thanks.

That is a neat way to do it. Did not know you could keep both.

Are you sure about this? I thought it was impossible to keep them both after placing the lordvessel. Doing a bit of researching it seems most people say that this gets you both of them until you place the vessel, after which the one you didn't place it with leaves.
