Nothing. I want a great first expirience, not an unfinished demo with spoilers.

Contrary to what a lot of people say, I believe that the change of the game's director and the game's engine are both major threats to the game's quality. The gameplay footage we saw so far only furthers my worries about the game. Thanks to that, I'd like to have a chance to play the game before realease, be it a beta, or a demo, to see how the game actually looks and plays with my own eyes. If I will deem the game unsatisfactory, especially to it's grand name, I won't buy it. Fan, or no. I dropped several series like this and another one is not a big deal, but that doesn't mean I want to do it. I want the game to be good/ To be better than previous Souls games. Yet I want to know what I'm putting my money on the counter for before buying it, especially with all the changes they made to it.
What would I give to be a beta tester?
The price of the game once it's released.
Nothing more, nothing less.

MY LIFE!
On a serious note though, I would love to beta test the game just to try out the new parry system, assuming parrying remains in the game. I have been dying to see the new parry animations (And to check out the multiplayer experience too).

I would give nothing. Whether it will be a great game I wouldn't offer anything of greater value than retail price for it.

No can do.Serious_Much wrote:Buy into the hype sen! No need to be cynical yet
There was many game series that got ruined because of somebody who decided to change something. Most of the current gen games are horrible and blank. They all seem like one and the same game with minor changes. Thanks to all that I'm, as you said, cynical when it comes to new games, especially from series that I like.
EA, Capcom, Square-Enix, Activision (mostly for CoD) and Ubisoft made me lose my faith in gaming industry long time ago.

I would give a short essay on why I'm a good candidate, possibly in some sort of entry form or application.
Edit: Scratch that, instead of writing a new essay I'll just have them read my "Return to Boletaria" game play novel (based on a true story, available in my signature) to convince them I'm a big fan

That video doesn't adress my worries one bit.
Also, while I appreciate opinions on the game from others, I still prefer to make my own.
I'm not that type of fan who would buy a sequel because he liked the previous game. Not anymore.
That's the only reason why I would like to participate in the beta. To see for myself what the game is like. To make my own opinion.
I'm not naive enough to believe I can change anything I may dislike about the game even if I do get to be a part of the beta test, so all I would do is spend a few hours with it, to see how I like it and delete it. Or, if possible, give it to somebody else, who will make a worthwhile use of it, which may even benefit the community.
That said, I'm glad there will be beta. While it may not give us chance to change the game, or it's components, we may be able to root out some glitches and exploits early on and get them fixed before release date.

There's no doubt in my mind Dark Souls II will be a fantastic game. But, I feel that it's straying away from what made Dark Souls so great.
Think about it like this, multiplayer is the key aspect to most gamers today. In Dark/Demon's Souls the multiplayer was good, but it had a feeling of importance to have people on both sides. Now it seems they're making it easier to summon people, and with the new healing systems, it gives the host a deadly advantage. Imagine it for a second, if someone convinces their friend to buy the game, Bamco sells 2 copies. If they realize how fun it is to co-op, they'll invite more friends, and then sell more copies.
Why do you think the beta will be multiplayer? It will most likely feature overpowered weapons and spells, and make it as hard for the invader as possible. It's going to be brutally hard, and pretty much further the, idea of needing a friend to beat it. It's being released by Bamco of America, and they're the ones who weren't satisfied by Dark Souls' revenue.
In other words, prepare to be ganked. Not that co-op is bad, but there will be a strong increase in gankers because of new systems. It seems Bamco is more concerned about multiplayer than single player. And I swear if it's as unfinished as Dark Souls because Bamco pushed multiplayer so hard, I will **** bricks.

I am planning on trying to get it to them somehow. Kind of like a "thank you" gesture.Serious_Much wrote:That's actually a pretty sweet idea skareskarekrow13 wrote:I would give a short essay on why I'm a good candidate, possibly in some sort of entry form or application.

Just Kidding, I don't want to be a beta tester unless it was during the really late stages of development.

I kinda feel that making ganking more prominent would be a negligence of the online component, rather than focusing too much.SadPanda wrote:There's no doubt in my mind Dark Souls II will be a fantastic game. But, I feel that it's straying away from what made Dark Souls so great.

Anyways, I don't get what you mean by easier summons= more ganks. Easier summons to me means better online play and more questing parties (which isn't ganking btw), those who wanna gank will always gank regardless of how easy/difficult summoning is. Sucks but that is a fact.. though in fairness it's not like we don't get people who actively seek out gankers to fight aka forest hunters.
To be honest if that's the biggest complaint anyone can offer about the new game I'd take that. I'm actually loving the changes that have been made. The only thing I'm worried about atm is the difficulty. That as we all know is incredibly important

We are all passionate souls fans so it's completely understandable that we have some worries but we all know you can watch videos all day and not know what the game really feels like. In order to do that we need to play the final product for a few good hours before judging it. That being said im very optimistic about DkS2, new blood is good some times and i feel Tanimura San knows what the essence of the souls games is and will deliver another awesome souls title.

Am I the only one who thinks it will be harder? I mean based on the smarter AI, the torch areas and the Mirror Knight boss fight, I think the game is looking pretty hard so far.
