DkS2 MUST be ported

Lets think about this, 
1.The dominantly pre ordered console is PS4 this means there will be A LOT of xbox players getting PS4s, i have Dark souls for my box but i dont have a ps3, i want to get DkS2 and play it online, but i am not paying for both PSN+ AND XBLG so im going with PSN+ this means my DkS2 experience will be limited, same for many other people.

2. This is a good way to bring in more money for FROM, people will buy the next gen versions of the game over current gen even if it has just a slight quality increase, so it goes hand in hand with the next gen sales and the sales of the game.

3. Longer lifespan, current gen consoles will have the plug pulled on their servers soon and online play will be impossible, a next gen port is a good way to make the game live longer until another souls game comes out.

The downside however would be that if you dont use PSN+ and you decide to go with PS4 you need to pay for online.
 
I know not everyone will agree with me here but i feel like theres a lot of good in making a port.

Kiva they're definitely gonna port, they're just playing games with the marketing so that they get the most sales possible for sure. They'll probably leave like 4-6 months then release the next gen port

DkS2 comes out in may or march, a 2014 release would be christmas.

Maybe they'll make the release date for the port october since they missed it with the initial release?

If it's going to be on the next generation of consoles, I hope it gets ported to the WiiU. It would be really cool to see how they could implement the controller. That kind of specialization might be too much to ask for, but it would be really cool.

got a baaaadddd feeling i'll be buying 2 copies of dark2. one for ps3, and then eventually for the ps4. 

i wonder still, online crossplay between ps3/ps4? there will be a handful of games with online play released on BOTH. (same goes for the xbox i figure), but i just wonder if they could cross the servers...but i dont have a clue how all the works.

i do hope they create a way to transfer a character from the ps3 version to the ps4 version, some kind of cloud game save...i dont know, that might be a way to break the game though or cheat. im not considering tech specs or ramifications, im just thinking what i'd like to see. inlighten me if there are big flaws with this. but i still want it, unless its really negative side affects.

I so agree with this as I'm in the same boat; I play DkS1 on Xbox360 and I'm investing in Sony for Vita, PS4 and PSN+ for next-gen (I've already bought the Vita and it's awweeesome).  I won't really have much cash or incentive to continue the Live subscription... not to mention the power of next-gen is closer to PC for better gfx and so on.

The next-gen architecture is so damn close to PC that it would be ridiculous not to port it, but without confirmation from From or Namco Bandai we just don't know.

Can easily be emulated on a PC.

"BUT THE GAMES"
Are mostly more of the same. Titanfall is Calladoody with mechs, and the new racing games are just pushing multiplayer. I could go on with most next gen games, including Watch Dogs, don't even get me started on that.

"BUT THE FEATURES"
Share buttons, built in PVR's, and Cable TV, so new and innovative.

"BUT THE SPECS"
Are that of a mid-range PC you could build for the same price, without screen tearing and other graphical issues. Just look at Blighttown.

To be honest panda, the obvious reason people use consoles is because it's a separate dedicated thing to gaming, rather than having to buy an expensive desktop that they use for both work and gaming and have to leave at home... Then you can have a home console and a laptop for work which you can easily take to and from your workplace.

Plus gaming PCs are really expensive and annoying to maintain and even if you want one at a reasonable price and make one you need a good amount of PC knowledge to make a gaming pc for good price. Thats mainly why consoles are good for me- they're just way more convenient and easy to use than a PC for gaming so muppets like me who cant get their way round a PC game game easily

In many ways, I'm relieved this is a current gen title at release.  Perhaps it's done out of marketing greed, but the last thing we need is to see a community get split 4 ways.  Plus, the devs are going to be really familiar with the current tech, so any technical shortcomings won't be because they were working with new hardware.

A later port would be fine with me.  Throw a new edition together and time it with some DLC, the way Dragon's Dogma did.  I'd buy it again just to see the differences, and try a new build.

Are a pretty *** huge point man. FFXV looks fantastic, to me at least. I would happily indulge the new consoles just for exclusives.

But yes, PC is master race.

The PC still hasn't conquered the living room space and that's what console players are generally about; anyway, I love the PC and hope it will one day successfully transition there (it will have the greatest chance during next-gen as it and XBone and PS4 are quite similar).

But for me it'll be PS4 in the living room and the PC lives upstairs in the office.

In the case that Dark Souls 2 won't be ported to next-gen I'm seriously considering selling my 360 and buying a PS3 for it (I have PSN+ for free games and won't need to continue the Live subscription). hmmm. How cheap are PS3's these days.. second hand shops here I come   ... well, maybe March 2014, they'll be even cheaper by then

didn't read the whole thread but wasn't there a rumor and hint that From put out a silent release for a retailer for Dark Souls 2 to be out on ps4 by next Xmas or something?

Or even better, Put Demon's Souls and Dark Souls in a double pack. You get both for the price of one. So so so so so so would buy that then.
I know they can't actually do that, but come on, you gotta love the idea.
