It's not licorice though (even though people tend to mix them a lot since, they look so similar).skarekrow13 wrote:What you're describing is not quite like an Atomic Fireball. Those are cinnamon flavored and are (to most people) excessively hot.
EDIT: I just looked it up since I love candy (waaaay more than I should) and there's a specialty shop near where I work that often has assorted candies from Europe. Apparently from what I can tell it's a for of what we'd just classify as "licorice" in the USA. It's not a popular flavor here so everything gets lumped into the term "licorice" and tends to be on the sweet side. The store in question near my work usually has a big variety of European licorices and since I do enjoy the flavor I've tried a large number that are definitely not popular here. The range has been from soft like a marshmallow with brown sugar coating to very hard (not quite "hard" candy since it's theoretically "chewy") and salty. Maybe I'll pop in and see if they have any specifically named what you said Spurgun.
I looked up atomic fireball, and it does look a lot like one form of Salmiak. There are several more though, one pretty popular one is just powder that you buy in a straw, there are chewy ones too, but i don't like them as much.

Re: Ask Each Other Anything Within Reason
Wikipedia says;
Salty liquorice, also known as salmiakki or salmiak, is a variety of liquorice flavoured with ammonium chloride, common in the Nordic countries, Netherlands, Baltic States and Northern Germany.[1] Ammonium chloride gives salty liquorice an astringent, salty taste[2] (hence the name), which has been described as "tongue-numbing"[3] and "almost-stinging".[4] Salty liquorice is an acquired taste and people not familiar with ammonium chloride might find the taste physically overwhelming and unlikeable.[5][6] Salty liquorice candies are almost always black or very dark brown and can range from very soft to very hard and may be brittle. The other colours used are white and variants of grey. Carbon black is used as a food colouring agent in these candies. Salty liquorice is also used as a flavouring in other products, such as ice creams and alcoholic beverages.
So to confirm wut Skare said, it's described as liqourice only salty. I have heard of it before but have never tried it.
Question:
Are you afraid of the dark? And don't lie Skare lol

No, I'm not afraid of the dark. I used to be afraid of it for quite some time until I started going on late night bike rides and walks, then the fear just went away.

Re: Ask Each Other Anything Within Reason
I'm not afraid of the dark at all. I'm actually quite comfortable in it and have a variety of specialized techniques to maneuver while blind or near blind.
However, noises I can't immediately identify will startle me for sure and if I can't place it soon AND my vision is limited due to darkness or anything else...
Then I am prone to fear. However, I'm still usually the idiot who goes looking for the noise. I would probably die first in a horror movie.
Spur,
Twigster quoted some of the things I had seen when I said it appeared to be licorice. I also saw some candy online for sale that appeared to licorice. Now, if you're eating the stuff and saying that it's not that and it can be a bunch of different things I am going to trust you on it.
My guess is it maybe started as licorice but has since evolved to be more than that in your region. For instance, hot sauce in most places is just a thin sauce from some variety of peppers. In Rochester, NY however it is most often going to be similar but made with meat.
So to parallel, I might visit where you live and say "I'd like some Salmiak" and expect licorice and then get something different. Basically, the USA interpretation of your regional item is likely narrow.
So....since I'm a candy nut this question is for Spurgun:
Could you please link some product pages of what you have if they're available?

Ok, seriously though. Who was your first crush then?
In 7th grade I got transferred to the smart class, and a girl decided to try and befriend me, and I had 0 problems with it, but I was too shy to talk to her, as I used to be so terribly shy the only friends I made were the people that constantly wanted to talk to me, pair this with this being the first female(and one of the first people) that I had talked to since arriving at the school in 4th grade, I didn't know what to say half the time and ended up being incredibly shy. She was pretty, so my evolving mind said "You should try to date her!" despite my very limited comprehension of the feeling, and so I tried all year to work up the courage to tell her I liked her, but each time she talked to me I'd instantly get nervous and flustered.
In 8th grade she was put in the gifted class, while I remained in the advanced class, and throughout Highschool I had no classes with her until this year, and the feeling I had has died, at best I'd just want to be her friend at this point, I just don't really care for any form of a relationship at this point in my life, as opposed to 7th grade where I had no idea what being in a relationship really meant, except that other kids were getting them and I wanted one to fit in.
tl;dr:There was a pretty girl that I was too awkward to talk to, even though she talked to me on several occasions.
Also, yes, I shall indeed take your hand in marriage.
We shall have the most spectacular of marriages.

A boy I knew in 7th grade. His first name was Tony, and he was nice, and one time I was being picked on, he fought the person picking on me. At the time I didn't even know I liked him. I've kinda just figured it out. I've never had a strong crush though.

Re: Ask Each Other Anything Within Reason
This is one of my few honest posts on this Forum .Soul of Stray Demon wrote:

It was a Girl that i knew for my whole life, i think i could have changed her life if i would have claimed her...that's the one thing i regret in my life .
I guess i try to tell my Story then...
She was just awesome, taking no sh1t from the boys trying to bully her, being moderately smart in class when she felt like it and having the same odd sense of humor as i did .
It also helped that she as living on the same Street as I, in an Hospice .
I had my first kiss with her .
It was at Elemantary School during our practice for the Schoolplay when we were in .
It was the classic "The Hero kisses the Girl awake" scene, we were supposed to only pretend to be kissing .
But i made it happen lol .
After Elementary School we went to different Schools and i didn't see her again until 7th grade .
She was even more awesome than back then .
There was a time when we were a Couple for a few Months and i don't really remember what happened exactly but she started to miss at School even more frequently than usual, sometmes dissapearing for a whole Week .
I couldn't find her anywhere .
Turns out she went to some old guys place, i don't know what she was doing there to this day and frankly, i don't think i want to know .
She got thrown out of School and i know that around that time she had a new boyfriend, she was 16 and he was 23 or something .
I didn't see her again for another Year .
I met her at random in another Town with her Boyfriend .
After a few pleasantries i invited them to a Restaurant (my pay, of course) there they told me what they did for the past Year .
They had a Baby, but they couldn't take care of it so it got taken away, it now lives at her parents in law.
I started to see her more regularly for a few Months .
Then she dissapeared for a Year again .
Then i started hearing things about her from my Friends .
They had another Baby .
She is driving through the whole Land with her Boyfriend while living in the Car with her Baby .
But that's not all, she did something inexcusable .
It made it to the Newspapers .
http://www.welt.de/vermischtes/article13581071/Kofferraum-Baby-kommt-in-Pflegefamilie.html
They went to "The Dome", a Disco-Party-Show thing and left their Baby in the Car thinking that it would sleep while they went partying .
Luckily the Baby started crying and some Passers heard it and called the Police .
They got the Baby out of there, it was hot and the Car heated itself up, the Baby was totally sweaty and had to be brought to the Hospital .
Being trapped in that Car was a trauma for the Baby .
And it seems that they were living in the Car for a few days, they found dirty Dishes and Clothes and Alcohol .
The Couple was found after 4 hours, the Police tried to call them during that time but they didn't hear the Phone .
The Baby is now at a Family Care .
A few Months after that she says that she wants her Baby back
Here is a Video .
http://www.rtlregional.de/player.php?id=16784
She says that she deeply regrets what she did .
I haven't seen her again to this day, and like i said...things could have gone a whole lot different if i would have done something .

That's... wow, Marino. I don't have a story like that in my life.
If any of the blame rests on you - which it doesn't - it's less than 0.00035%. Some people just make certain choices and you have accept it. That said, neither her nor the father have any business caring for another life.
