Post by homelessguy Wed Sep 04, 2013 6:59 pm

was working on my Lautrec cosplay the other day when I thought to myself where did Lautrec get his armour it seems  somewhat royal with the detail and colour l if u take away rust/blood  could he be a priest with a tough guy act

what do we know about him
he from a carim not good start but sin guy is from carim and he a priest
he hate patches and patches hate him who else does patches hate hmm I wonder
he is seen with what seems to be a sealer are they not know for there healing art and being wizards of the lords
he may seem like an *** but put yourself in his shoes u have to play mean 2 live in dark souls or u die and go hollow
he did not even kill rhea who had lots of humanity (and he could have if he got 2 anor londo)
another thing to note is no one cares if Lautrec killed fire keeper why would powers such a master logan rhea and her 2 knights pyro bro Griggs etc. just let him leave

an his final act that people still not 100% sure on is his killing of the fire keeper

he does not use this fire keeper souls but takes it 2 a sealer maybe 2 heal her he even says during fight with him in cut content he not want to fight you and why have  you come to fight. maybe he is a priest of fina and by means some would think a horrible he may have thought it was putting her out of her misery doing her.a favour so 2 say so priest of god of favour who trying to help in barbaric way or just an *** who knows...

Lautrec is one of the most visually interesting characters in the entire game with a lot of the story told through frankly his armor if you ask me.  Lautrec is a Knight, he is upper class and important but he doesn't strike me as a saint.  However it should be noted that Lautrec has a title he is called by.  He is called Lautrec the Embraced.

Helm/Armor/Gauntlets/Leggings: "Apparel of Lautrec the Embraced, representing the goddess Fina's love."
Helm/Gauntlets/Leggings: "During his solitude, he forsook everything, for he believed in the goddess's love for him."
Armor: "The goddess's arms wrap around it, as if to embrace the wearer."

is lautrec a saint ?? Favor

Lautrec the Embraced of Carim, he is a servant of the Goddess of Love, Fina.  The armor is called the Set of Favor.  Favor is a term that can mean that one is given something showing that they are important to another or just in general.  It can also mean that one has an attitude of kindness and liking towards a figure.  Lautrec seems to be involved with Fina as a servant or possibly more, he is important to her and she is important to him.  This can be noted especially in the armor he wears, it shows the Embrace of Fina.  Arms wrapped around his body so that at all times he may feel his love's touch.  Whether she be his love as in admiration and worship like a god, or love in the more romantic way.  This could in a way classify him as a Saint if he is so important to a goddess.  Now what makes a person a Saint?  There are two varieties, a Saintly person as in someone that is seen as virtuous.  There is also one that is a defined Saint, it is a title.  Without the term Saint being in his name we cannot use that as fact in regards to his Sainthood though the term "The Embraced" could be a saintly name.  It might also just be a regular Knight title.  In regards to being Saintly he is favored by his goddess and considered to be in her good favor thus he could be considered a saint.

Though the part I always find interesting is his standing with Fina at the time of the game.  Lautrec has been imprisoned for however long and while he is a Knight of love and compassion his personality is nothing like that at all.  He is manupulative, cruel, and traitorous.  This is one of the reasons I really enjoy Lautrec's character.  With the idea of compassion and love being so important to him, especially the love of Fina to the point where his armor was designed to simulate his touch, how would he do without her?   We have no idea how long he was imprisoned, it could have been for over a hundred years that Lautrec has been alone rotting away in that prison cell.  Away from his Goddess.  Alone going mad and growing resentful and hateful of others.  Perhaps the reason he targets a Firekeeper is the religious iconography or maybe even simply it is him lashing out at  the closest woman to him since she reminds him of Fina.  She wouldn't even have to look like her or anything, he's been alone for possibly so long any female could remind him of Fina.  I've always really pitied Lautrec due to this speculation about him since it really makes me think that he is the loneliest soul in Lordran, or at least the loneliest one we encounter.
