LPS came after the hype for MLP vastly died down, so frankly nobody gave two sh!ts about this "shows-for-little-girls-that-are-actually-good" thing .

No, i don't know for certain .
I think it's unlikely tbh considering that the Toys are selling pretty good (especially the EQG stuff) and we all know how much Hasnobro loves the Moneys .
Personally, i hope it is the final one, after the soulless Season 3 they can still salvage the Series with S4 and possibly end it on a somewhat high note .
I don't want it to become The Simpsons 2.0

I can honestly see them doing something simliar to "My little Pony: Tales" .
That Series was all about One-Shot-Stories ie new Characters for every Episode and they're never seen again . That would be kind of neat .
Or maybe they do go down "The Simpsons" road, the Main Focus is on the Main6 and the CMC while they ocasionally have an Episode about the supporting Characters (Celestia, Luna, The Apple Family Cadance and Shining Armor etc) .
Maybe they can make it work .
