Ring of Calamity

What's the dealio?

If there's something I've learned thus far in my DkS experience. It's that nothing has no purpose.

So what could this thing be used for? Wearer receives double damage.

I can see how it can MAYBE, be used in conjunction with the Red tearstone ring. But even that's a stretch.

And why does an Ancient Dragon drop this?

Any ideas?

I don't think there is anymore to it, nothing else has been found out about the ring so a lot of people have come to the conclusion that it's there to add another level of difficulty to the game. It's a little sad that there isn't much lore behind it, all we know is that it was a ring enchanted by Kalameet's eye.

This ring kind of became like the next Pendant with everyone wondering if its special in any way, I think its either just to troll or as Bob said for something harder then NG +7.

Want to hone PvP skills? Slap it on.
Want to make PvE more difficult? Slap it on. 
Otherwise, nothing.

Some parts of the DLC had no purpose. The guardian soul was one, and this was another. I find it generally sad that the dlc was originally planned to be in the game, was cut, then was re-added but wasn't worked on very hard because they spent all their time on a shoddy PC port that the players themselves had to fix. I don't blame Fromsoft, they don't make the deadlines, I blame bamco for being morons.

And I hear what you're saying. DkSII should be a whole lot more refined in that regard. Or at least that's what we're hoping for.

Given that a fan made a hard-mode for the PC version I too think that the Ring is ment for the ones that seek another challenge.

hard mode comes to mind.
there is also the swag value that comes with it.

Invade wearing that ring, naked, with a Zweihander.
