The God of War
Who is it? Solaire? Seigmeyer? Andre the Blacksmith? The Hollow Corpse outside Darkmoon Tomb? Is the Sunlight Altar a broken statue of the God of War? The four statues of Velka with a Baby, is one of those babies the God of War? If it is, which one is the God of War?????? Let the theories begin.

Re: The God of War
I'm pretty sure it's Solaire. Here are some of my reasons:
-He uses Faith.
-His armor has a sun.
-He is constantly looking for his OWN sun, for me this means that he is looking for his own Lord Soul or something like that.
-He uses Lighting Spears, just like Gwyn, but he uses a weaker version.
-Sunlight Spears can be obtained at the Sunlight Altar.
-His armor's descriptions clearly states that he is strong just because of his skill and not because of magic on his equipment. For me this means he is strong as a god, and doesn't need a good equipment to shine.
-The Ring of the Sun's Firstborn states that the God of War, lost his deity status, but that he still watches closely his warriors. This could be a hint to Warrior of Sunlight, thus being him the one who tells you to join, and he helps you with many bosses.
-According to an interview with the Director, when you rescue him and succesfully kill Gwyn with his help; he links the fire in his own world, this means he is special, "good" in general terms, and that he is one of the few (if not the only) adventurer NPCs who survives long enough to do that.
-He has it's own covenant (assuming he is the leader of the Warriors of Sunlight, after all, you can join every covenant by talking to it's leader, so you talk to Solaire and he tells you join, and then, by going to the Altar, you indirectly joined by him).
-He is one of the strongest NPCs, so it would be possible for him to being a god.
-I think that the God of War lost his memory too along with his deity status, maybe that's why he is looking for his own sun, he looks for enlightenment (or a Lord Soul).

Re: The God of War
You have very good points there Chiz, but one of the Item Descriptions ( I think its Sunlight Blade) says that he only has respect for arms and nothing more. Solaire uses Lightning Spears, it does not mean he could be the God of War, because there are too many other facts that hints him being the God of War, like his search for his sun, his admiration of the sun as father, somewhat leader of the Sunbros etc.
After reading Sunlight Blade description, I think that when he lost he deity status, he still had thr memory of him being adept with weapons, but the only way to being adept now is forging weapons. I beginning to think that he may be Andre the Blacksmisth, as he is deep fascination with Weapon Ascensions, you can give him 4 Embers, one of them creates weapons of Legend (Very Large), the other creates weapon of the Gods (Divine). He is the only NPC thats humanoid but is not like the other humans (you have to admit he looks different, lol).

Re: The God of War
You know one I could consider completely off of his strength and abilities alone given that as the god of war is stated to be, he uses nothing but the strength of his arms and does meet the player. Black Iron Tarkus. A weaker choice given what little there is of Tarkus, but still it is a possibility.

Yeah he could be as well as Seigmeyer. Both rely on the strength of their weapons.
I was researching Gwyn's name and I found some stuff. Gwyn, Gwynevere and Gwyndolin are all female Celtic names. Gwyn can be male too, the female form is Gwen. Guess what, there is a fourth name, Gwyneth or Gwynith meaning Blessed and Happiness (Firstborn???). This name is female too, and the male form is Gwynedd. Other name that is actually male I found is Heilyn, meaning son of Gwyn and Cupbearer. First thing that comes to my mind is the Lordvessel.

Re: The God of War
I don't think it is iron tarkus. He is probably just a leader of the black knights. Plus I have my own theory on why he is in the game in a thread I'm just abou to post. Andre is an interesting idea but his lack of doing anything

Yeah, someone already found that a time ago, but I think that we should research the names of the candidates instead of the names of the guys we already know. Research Solaire, and Andre. Maybe their meaning could be a hint. I think that Solaire may come from "Sol", that means Sun, in Spanish, but it's just a theory.

Yeah you are right Chiz. Do you think the Pendant with the Sunlight Medal description a hint from the Developers? They didnt change it with the new patch, and if they dont change it with upcoming patches, then there has to be a connection with the God of War and maybe Solaire.

I really think that the Pendant and the Sunlight medal are related in some way. But that thing about the description, it's not a hint, just a tiny error. I think that Spanish version doesn't have that error. But I can't confirm it, because I heard that it only happens with Pendants obtained via Forest Invasions, and I never got one that way. I only got pendants via Reah or by gift.

Re: The God of War
I really don't think Siegmeyer is the long lost son. From the information we have, we know for sure that the God of War is in some way related to the Warriors of the Sun, yet Siegmeyer is not at all associated with the Warriors of the Sun and really comes across as little more than a traveling knight from Catarina. AT THE VERY LEAST, Solaire is a lieutenant of the God of War, if not the actual son.

In fact "Solaire" is a french word.
And yes it has to do with the sun, "Soleil" or "Sol" in latin.
"Solaire" is an adjective, like in "rayonnement solaire" or "énergie solaire".
In the french version they didn't named him Solaire though, but Solarius (wich is the latin word).
But I don't think he could be the God of War, it would be too obvious.
Ah and about the "french version" : The pendant's description is not the same as the sunlight medal, I think it's just a bug that occurs in the "english version".

Yeah, I got a forest hunter.
I got like 5 pendants, and I still got the pendant's description.
Like I said, it's just a bug on the english version.

LOL I swear he's stronger than Solaire, although not as cool. I was thinking... if you guys played Demon's Souls, you know there are various references in Dark Souls. Patches the Hyena is Trusty Patches, Yurt is like Lautrec both are assassins and Prince Ostrava is somewhat like Solaire. Do you guys remember that Ostrava was always in some kind of problem and you had to rescue him? He is somewhat similar in this sense to the Knight of Catarina, Seigmeyer!!!!!!

Lautrec even calls Patches "Trusty Patches" and comments how he will make him pay if he ever sees him.
Catarinans are known for their strength. It is possible that the god of war left and was actually the founder of catarina in ages past.

The Catarinans still aren't affiliated with the Warriors of the Sun in any way, and the God of War is undeniably linked with the Warriors of the Sun.DoughGuy wrote:Lautrec even calls Patches "Trusty Patches" and comments how he will make him pay if he ever sees him.

Re: The God of War
Ok I found another clue about the God of War. According to the Sunlight Medal description:
The symbol (of the Sun, wow) represents Lord Gwyn's firstborn, who lost his deity status and was expunged from the annals. But the OLD God of War still watches closely over his warriors.
Is this a literal adjective? We should look to old NPCs then, Solaire is pretty young imo.

I dont think theres a new God of War, but although he lost his deific status, he still watches over his warriors... this means his memories aren't blocked. He still watches over his warriors!!!!!!!

The old god of war probably refers to the fact he used to be a god and is no longer one. Wyrm his memories still could be blocked. He may watch over his warriors just not know he is the god of war.

Yeah I thought that the first time I read it. But if 'old' is literal, then the choices are fewer. I am thinking that it could be Andre, as he is old, has an extensive knowledge about arms (he can hold 4 embers and make raw weapons) and maybe forgot how to fight with his spear or sword. But it could be Sir Onion too, as he is a clearly reference to Prince Ostrava, son of King Allant, you always had to help him with his problems, just like Seigmeyer. He is old and wears a Lightning Bastard Sword I think, another clue.

Re: The God of War
Just quickly the large embr allows him to make raw weapons. Not his own skill. Andre is possible but his lack of involvement with the story in any way hurts his credibility. All he does is sit and smith. However he does hold the crest of artoris. Taking the outside chance he was alive back when artoris was and artoris personally gave him the crest as a reward or something. Over time he forgot its meaning and eventually sells it. That and the fact he relies only on the strength of his arms is the only evidence for him.

Yeah he is supposed to be Guarding the Key to the Forest and he even mention that "he doesnt know much about Darkroot Forest" please. I agree with you on that Doughguy, he is extremely suspicious.

I also believe someone said when they attacked him he tekkened their ***. Punched and kicked them to death. Fits with the strength of his arm motif.
