Pharis's Hat

I was searching the wiki for some armors and bumped into Pharis's Hat description:



Broad-brimmed hat favored by the archer hero Pharis. Pharis was an accomplished archer, and though he was human, he ranked alonside Hawkeye Gough, one of the Four Knights of Lord Gwyn.



Does this mean that the Knights of Lord Gwyn are not human? If so, what are they?

I can't say for sure, but I'd speculate they were some sort of lesser gods or maybe demi-gods. I'd assume Gwyn would want body guards that are better than humans. Of course I have no facts to back any of this up :|

Actually, the black and silver knights are pretty big already. We can only assume the 4 to be at least as big.

Artorias is definitely the best clue. His Grave, Sword and Puppy area all a wee bit bigger than we are.

Not to mention Ornstiens height. He was one of the 4 knights as well wasnt he? if you actually stop and stand next to him he is atleast 1 1/2 heads taller than your player. More so after you smash in smoughs teeth. lol.

True dat....and Smough, while not a Knight, was a contemporary of theirs and is even taller/wider.

The hat description says otherwise. Why did you think Pharis was a girl?

Well the archer that you kill to get the hat and the black bow of pharis is a girl, and the "standard" archer look seems to be a girl, so it's an easy thing to assume

Pharis was male (per item descriptions). The forest hunter holding his items is indeed female. That's about all the information there is on the two. Pharis' popularity with children might indicate similarities with Robin Hood (archer of the people). That reminds me......it might be time for a new post in Emergence's lore thread.....see ya.

cuz the female version of the hat looks the same as the one the NPC wears. i seem to remember a girly cry when i killed Pharis, but i could be wrong.

You're not wrong. The person you killed to get the Pharis items was female. It could be Pharis as there are errors in item descriptions but the hat says "he" twice and alludes to the fact that he was a contemporary of Gough. As the only evidence of Gough is his ring, it's assumed he's no longer around. It's true that Ornstein, Smough and other Anor Londo residents were also contemporaries of Gough and Pharis but their current rule is not conducive for the children that Pharis' hat is loved by. Also, Pharis is human, they are not. The most likely scenario is that Pharis is no longer around either and the forest hunter with this equipment is a descendant or a fan.

pharis was a dude, maybe that girl that's using his stuff seduced him and killed him in his sleep(i dont know). and artorias was a giant, it's in his item descriptions.

I like the idea of demigods. This can be a clue for the Four Kings being or not being the Four Knights. Acidic already made a nice connection, and if Artorias was a demigod, maybe that's why he can use the powers of the Dark with so much power than any other ghost/Darkwraith.

the thing with pharis/foresthunter is if your character is a girl then pharis is a girl if your character is a guy then pharis is a guy. i guess rants right that hes a guy but the person in the forest isnt pharis just has his hat and bow.
