Re: The Darkroot Woods
Possible, I did notice a few white branches in the great hollow on my last trip down. But, I always figured that was from the bark being stripped off them, not the natural color of growth.

"Well, better kill these people so that I can be forgiven for killing them."
I'll probably be heading into the forest soon to do a little more research myself.

This thread is GREAT for giving some nice tips for defending yourself in the forest, I am sure if you PM tolvo, or any of the regulars there on that thread you will get tons of help.

Re: The Darkroot Woods
The darkroot forest is the ruins of oolacile... the biggest clue for this is the enchanted ember is there. Enchanted ember is not from vinheim and thus must be from oolacile! Im pretty sure oolacile was burned down by seath the scaless while he was doing his experiments. This can be seen by the butterfly which is there and also the crystal golem(carrying the girl).

Re: The Darkroot Woods
Yes, we got around to discussing that for a bit, we actually got a bit distracted because of Oolacile I think so we moved to the Magic thread and started talking about it a bit more there, along with Magic in general and Seath the scaleless.

Re: The Darkroot Woods
Time to save this thread from death!
Has anyone else noticed that the divine blacksmith's tower is actually part of a much larger castle? i only noticed because i was looking to see where the butterfly came from. Of note is that its resting on top of the tower the blacksmith is in. I think that the divine blacksmith worked there while it was still Oolacile. He forged divine weapons for the Oolacilians.

Re: The Darkroot Woods
That and the Tranquil walk of Peace spell might make Oolacile the true link between miracles and sorcery. What if their sorcery is not linked to Seath as well. Think about it, it's considered ancient in comparison to the Dragon School's sorceries, which come from Seath. Mysterious isn't it?

Re: The Darkroot Woods
Very nice work on Dusk haha, yeah I didn't see that before I posted. Alright, to revive this thread a bit I think it might be fun to have some speculation time about the DLC, because it sort of looks like the woods but brighter, can you think of any ways they might be related?

Re: The Darkroot Woods
I remember people liked my idea of DLC where a man in a boat comes in the Ash lakes and offers to take you to the church of Artorias for a gold, silver, and copper coin haha.

Sounds kind of like Point Lookout except without the flesh eating swampfolk..... and more flesh eating monsters.

Re: The Darkroot Woods
I am kind of thinking it is going to be that staircase in sens fortress.. Considering the sunlight in those photos, sens is one of the only places I can think of that over looks the forest and has the chance to be both green and bright.
Unless the wall in darkroot leads upwards towards the sunlight?
(you are probably making some reference that went way over my head tolvo. But I think you are being literal....)

Re: The Darkroot Woods
I could see it being connected to Sens, or there being a path from Darkroot leading there. Them being related doesn't mean they have to exactly connect directly after all.

I'd like to see the eastern part of Lordran that would be inviting a whole bunch of japanese influenced weapons and armour sets to appear.

Plus if there are Eastern NPC's, it might give some insight on Shiva.

Though I mightpoint out the Manticore originated in Persian myths but was quickly taken up by the greeks. WHo else do we know that is kinda from the east but seems to have greekish ties? Shiva.

Re: The Darkroot Woods
Even more mess up, he has a Lion head as his shoulder piece. Holy ****! I think there actually are ties to Shiva in this place!
His shield is very greek in Design, similar to the designs in the Catacombs, which hold the tranquil walk of peace spell, which is related to Oolacile, which could be what Darkroot once was.
I'm going to go insane one of these days.
