Favorite boss design?
I have to go with Gaping Dragon (or Sif), both had major OMGWTFIT! effects on me the first time facing them.

It should be pretty obvious by my avatar but my favorite is Ornstein. Sif comes in a close second for me though. A giant wolf holding a giant sword is just awesome

Ceaseless Discharge. Wicked-looking with all those live tentacles waiving around, and those stumped off, petrified-looking ones. Such an amazing amount of energy pulsating from him, even at rest.

The Belfry Gargoyles. It's the design honestly. 2nd I'd say Sif because of how badass he is.

Re: Favorite boss design?
4kings was very surprising. I was expecting a dramatically written boss and because of that I ended up with a dropped jaw and a "That's not fair" scream lol. Very intense for me.
Gwyn was also fun.

Sif is my favorite, he's just beautiful, when he jumps and gets the sword...
Ornstein has the best looking armor in the game!
I also like the Moonlight Butterfly, and I recently noticed that you can see her sleeping (I think) from some spot in the gardens.

I strongly dislike sif haha reminds of the days on ninja gaiden 2 RIP my first ever xbox controller ... anyway my fave boss has to be Priscilla she looks awesome and the fact that she is half dragon half human/god? is just cool, also her weapon is pretty badass to the point even the gods feared it and no mortal can weild it without been hurt themselves, pretty badass boss tbh.

Re: Favorite boss design?
I really can't think of another game that has EVER made me feel bad for killing a boss before Souls.
Especially Sif... That is just wrong. So is Priscilla.
Overall I don't know what I'm looking forward to more in the next game; refinements to gameplay systems, or just the new creature designs. Hands down some of the best ever IMHO (right up there with Silent Hill)

Gwyn is probably my favourite boss design overall, boss character story though, I find a certain Undead Mass to be really Nito. 8)

Iron golem, when he kneeled after me continiuosly hitting his legs I was like awesome! And his soul weapons are the coolest ones imo. The lamest one for me was gwyn, he was worst than the slug from demons souls.

The 'slug' (Real Allant) wasn't a real boss fight but a major part of the story.
Gwyn I didn't like because you can Parry him and there is no cutscene, yes I know it's supposed to be him mindlessly launching himself at you, but all bosses do that anyways, Just didn't have a good effect on me.
@Tolvo that, dear sir, was awesome.
@OP My favorite Boss design has to be 4 Kings.

I think Quelaag and Nito are incredibly badass looking.
Sif's awesome, but ridiculous. It's a giant wolf with a sword in it's mouth. The best way to beat him would be to play fetch with a Giant Club tbh

Re: Favorite boss design?
Phalanx and Fool's Idol, neither were challenging but had really interesting designs to them.
In Dark, O&S get it for me, I think Miyazaki must have had a heyday coming up with that dynamic duo. Another Boss I loved was Sif.
Most disappointing for me has to be Nito, there's not enough to him. While Gwyn yes he's bad, but take out Parry-riposte and you're left with a boss that's still super aggressive and difficult to deal with.
Oh and Dirty Colossus, that thing annoyed me how pathetic it was, it just looks like a giant purple pile of **** too which doesn't help it's cause

Me too. His helmet looks like *** without the red fur stuff coming out the back. I also liked the shoulderpads being extended better than withdrawn like they are in the player armor and in his super form.

Re: Favorite boss design?
I actually dont like Nito. I think they made him too large and too round. I love the gaping dragon design, but hate how little is done with it. I was expecting the teeth to be shot at me and stuff. Belfry Gargoyles was cool but too obvious. 4 kings is probably my fave. Its just completely against what I was expecting it to be.

Re: Favorite boss design?
This thread makes me realize how much I like the designs of the bosses in Dark Souls...
Sif
Nito
Gaping Dragon
Queelag
Ornstein & Smough
Bell Gargoyles
Seath
... Even the Moonlight Butterfly and Pinwheel are cool!
But my honorable mention: 4 Kings - so much detail in them (/him), most of which unfortunately goes unnoticed. But when you land the killing blow and get the cutscene, you can see how awesome their design is.
My favorite design: Ceaseless Discharge.
I pick him because, even before I learned his true story from ENB, which he read in an interview, I could always tell most of it just by fighting him. Clearly he's watching over that set, since he gets pissed off when you pick it up. And he just looks so twisted in pain, physically and, you can guess, emotionally. That boss just gets so much across just by his appearance, it's astonishing, really.
