Lautrec invasion (spoilers?)

Hey guys im new to the forums, though ive been lurking the last few days. Im too in love with this game to put into words so i wont bother gushing just yet.

I cant find any topic on this, but what happens if you use the Black Eye Orb after you've broken Gwyndolins illusion of gwynevere? On my current play through i murdered him on site but now im starting to think he might be quite important.

He is killing firekeepers, so we can assume he is trying to extinguish the flame right? When you invade him he has one of the sealers in his party and his world is dark as if he too has broken the illusion.

The question is, will he still be hostile if your following his mission? So much speculation on what that mission is but i mean. Assasinate the keepers before he gets a chance to, and kill gwyndolin.

Sorry if this has been answered, im keen to dig into some of the mysteries and he has a few choice words that seem to be hinting at something.


Regarding the braziers. I assume they light up if you finish a covenant 100 percent on each play through, as in sign up to that covenant and finish the game without switching ever and upgrading it to max and finishing its ideal ending. As in do not even flirt with the others, i am saying this and you are probably reading it for the thousanth time.

As for the alleged firstborn tomb behind frampt. It is a massive boulder, anyone try to cleave it with the leo ring? lol

To my knowledge no one has tried this however the fact is whatever you do you will invade him as a Spirit of Vengeance so its unlikely anything will change. Dont let that stop you trying though, the unlikely is all we have left.

RE Braziers

When i first saw them i assumed theyd light for every new game plus. Finish it ten times and you'll get access to the tomb of the first born.

I noticed something just now...

Mr frampt when he eats you did you notice geographically the braziers are in the same place as the "tomb of the first born"?

They all point up to it. Frampt turns upside down but stays facing the same way. I imagine that beam coming out of them will light and open the statue. Haha.

The pendant is clearly just a meta concept making us all turn hollow irl. Im joking of course, but reading the "diaries" of those on its quest (statue searching etc) genuinely reads like a canon tome found of the body of a dead obsessed adventurer. "its in the paintings eyes man!!!" "I can see a message in the bricks" You couldnt write something that good. It would be cool if when someone quits a character their corpse could be found with all their diary notes. haha

Took me a moment to realise what you meant by tomb of the firstborn, never heard it called that before. Like I said, check out sunbro's thread, he's done a lot more on this than anyone else.

It is a very interesting spot because of the size of the boulder encasing it. There's no need for the boulder game play wise. It doesn't obstruct you from area hopping or anything. It is a designed obtuse shape, unlike anything else in the game...

And the braziers point up to it lol.

I think those braziers probably have to do with the lord's finding the first flame, or more likely Gwyn's linking of the flame.

Only one of the braziers is an actual lordvessel, and there's only one of them.

Yeah sorry 9 braziers and a lord vessel. Its so suspect to me. This game has meticulous design and i cant help but feel that there is no way they would put something that rendered and specific just to create some texture. We know they are happy to stick in a black expanse or two so why go to the trouble?

I am going to try and invade lautrec post dark anor londo on ng+ asap. Just gotta get through seath and co with my frankly cowardly lvl 70 dex int build.

I personally don't believe that Lautrec has a mission to extinguish the flame. I think he is more motivated by greed and his want to collect humanity so he can get closer to being what he once was, human. That is why he kills the fire keeper trying to capture her humanity, although then he realized he couldn't use her soul, but he kept his hands on it anyways, because it is valuable.

Why do you say couldnt he use her soul?

I would assume if that was the case then he would invade you like all the other humanity hunting npcs.

The fact that you invade him and he has extinguished gwynevere tells u hes up to more than just humanity farming.

Can someone confirm that the third sealer is with lautrec? I doubt they would abandon their super important role just to hunt humanity. Especially considering they drowned new londo to stop darkwraiths.


Oh and another thing, does lautrec use estus when you fight him?

None of the other NPCs use Estus afaik, only heal miracles or nothing. This should define an estus flask as a very rare item, even though some hollows use an inferior version, so you finding one could be considered pure luck compared to the other NPCs.

I let Lautrec live on one playthrough with the hopes of summoning him for one of the later boss fights or something like that, it did nothing that I know of. I lost the black eye orb when I got to ng+.

He just seems like a good guy to me. He is about the only NPC that doesn't make me want to kill them. That firekeeper was asking for it

Hmmm he is very suspicious. Whatever his quest is he managed to get a monk and Sealer to help him.
